Chapter 134: An Intimate Couple

Hannah rose early the next morning, descending the stairs after washing and applying her makeup. It was earlier than usual, but she encountered Oscar already on the stairs. Did he rise this early every day? He had been late the previous morning, hadn't he? Hannah attempted a neutral expression, striving for an unreactive faรงade.

Oscar smiled slightly at her. They sat at a patio table where Max served them a breakfast he had prepared earlier. The meal progressed in silence.

"How did you sleep last night, Miss Cooper?" Oscar inquired suddenly.

She remained silent, pointedly ignoring him. The memory of his unsolicited kiss from the previous day left her distinctly unhappy.

Oscar chuckled softly, offering no further comment.

After breakfast, Hannah stepped outside, followed by Oscar. She entered Jimmy's car, with Oscar joining her. Hannah stared intently at him.

"I hope Miss Cooper won't mind giving me a lift," Oscar laughed.

"I'm in a hurry," Hannah refused.

"Don't worry, take your time. Send me along with Miss Cooper," Oscar said shamelessly.

Hannah gritted her teeth.

"Jimmy, let's go," Oscar commanded.

Jimmy, without seeking Hannah's opinion, obeyed, starting the car and driving away from the villa. Hannah turned her face to the window, pointedly avoiding conversation with Oscar. Oscar watched the back of her head, his eyes full of amusement.

When Jimmy stopped at a traffic light, he glanced in the rearview mirror. What he saw astonished him. He had never witnessed such an expression on Mr. Wells's face beforeโ€”something inexplicable shone in his eyes. In Jimmy's memory, Oscar was associated with blood and terror, figures that had once frightened him. But now, Oscar's eyes held a tenderness that evoked the feeling of youthful love, a feeling Jimmy, a man unfamiliar with love, could only observe.

"Jimmy," Hannah called out suddenly.

Jimmy snapped back to attention. The light turned green, with cars waiting behind them. His expression remained unchanged, though a fleeting flush colored his cheeks before he resumed driving with a composed face.

The car soon arrived at the Cooper Building. Hannah quickly exited the vehicle, feeling that any further delay would allow Oscar to see right through her.

As she departed, Oscar's voice halted her. "Miss Cooper."

Hannah ground her teeth and stopped. Oscar emerged from the car and approached her. Hannah found herself momentarily surprised by his height. He bent, his slender fingers reaching for her neck.

Hannah was stunned. He was subtly adjusting her clothing. She had, in fact, checked her appearance before leaving home; there was nothing amiss. Oscar was clearly staging an intimate display.

Many people thronged the area during the rush hour. Their location at the company gate ensured many witnessed the scene. Hannah felt a blush rise to her cheeks.

"Thanks, Oscar," she murmured.

Oscar maintained his smile. Suddenly, he bent and lightly kissed her forehead.

Hannah flushed deeply. She had never anticipated such an action. The public nature of the kiss embarrassed her. She nervously bit her lip, her composure wavering.

Fortunately, Oscar didn't overstep. "See you tonight," he said, then turned and left.

Hannah considered him a volatile, unpredictable element in her life. She took a deep breath, composing herself before entering the Cooper Building. As she entered, the satisfied smiles on the faces of many of her colleagues were evident; news of Oscar's escort and kiss had spread rapidly.

She attempted to regain her composure as she reached her office. Rose followed her. "Didn't Jimmy come with you?" she asked.

"He'll come later," Hannah replied. Jimmy needed to drop Oscar off.

Hannah sat at her desk and switched on her computer. Rose began her report: "At 10 a.m., there's a departmental project meeting, lasting about an hour. All supervisors and relevant personnel have been notified. At 3 p.m., Miss Cooper will visit the Light Building to assess the foot traffic and environment. And at 7 p.m., there's a monthly business party hosted by Phillips Bank. The presidential secretary's office requested your attendance."

"Okay," Hannah nodded. "Will the chairman be attending?"

"He will be escorting you," Rose replied.

Hannah smiled. Her father was clearly serious about integrating her into the business world, paving the way for her advancement.

"Would you like some black coffee?" Rose asked after finishing her report.

"A cappuccino, please. Black coffee is too bitter," Hannah responded, focusing on a computer file.

"Black coffee doesn't seem to suit your mood today, does it?" Rose remarked with a knowing smile.

Hannah shot her a sullen glance. Rose elaborated: "Mr. Wells personally dropped you off, and the image of his reluctant departure has spread throughout the company."

"Is your work not demanding enough?" Hannah retorted.

"I'll get your cappuccino right away," Rose said respectfully, but before leaving, she couldn't resist asking, "Everyone says Mr. Wells is incredibly charming, and that you two are perfect for each other."

"It seems your work isn't busy enough," Hannah warned.

"I'll make the coffee immediately," Rose said quickly, retreating.

Watching Rose leave, Hannah couldn't help cursing Oscar again.

Meanwhile, Oscar, sitting in the car, suddenly sneezed. Theodore, beside him, asked, "Do you have a cold?"

"No, someone's thinking of me," Oscar replied.

"Oh, come on, don't be dramatic," Theodore said, his expression shifting subtly. Since Oscar's involvement with Hannah, he had questioned whether this was still the same Oscar.

"Theodore," Oscar said, a glint in his eyes, "can we accelerate our plan?"

Theodore was taken aback.

"When Hannah turns 25, I want a daughter with her."

Theodore was speechless, stunned by Oscar's apparent infatuation. Was he prepared to sacrifice everything for this woman?

"No way," Theodore protested, annoyed.

Oscar frowned.

"You won't have a daughter; you'll have a son."

"..."

Theodore muttered, "This guy speaks nothing but nonsense."
