Chapter 152: Drive Her Mad

Hannah believed she could tolerate Oscar's philandering, but not so brazenly. As promised at their wedding, she wouldn't interfere in his private affairs. However, their blatant flirtation in her presence was provocative.

Hannah stared coldly. What a playboy!

Noticing Hannah's mocking tone, Janet stammered, "I accidentally spilled water on him while pouring him a drink. I was helping dry his clothes. Stop accusing me before understanding the situation. Aren't you being aggressive?"

Hannah saw the water stain. But she wasn't easily fooled.

Hannah sneered, "Accidental or not, there's a principle governing interactions with a married man. Miss Burke, I question your conduct getting so close to him."

"Hannah, what are you talking about? Oscar and I were classmates. Despite our relationship with Thomas, we've been friends. Is visiting him in the hospital wrong?" Janet retorted.

"So, Miss Burke, leaning on his chest is how you visit?" Hannah mocked.

"I was pouring him water and cleaning the stain!"

"Leaning on his chest to clean a stain in front of his wife?" Hannah sneered. "Convincing?"

"But Iโ€ฆ" Janet was exasperated. She knew Hannah's reputation, but hadn't anticipated such eloquence.

"What? Still clinging to my husband?" Hannah glared at Janet, whose hand still rested on Oscar.

Hannah's anger flared again. Oscar, however, seemed amused by their quarrel, complacently smiling instead of pushing Janet away.

Hannah wanted to snarl at him. Noticing her look, Janet reluctantly withdrew her hand. She had deliberately spilled the water; Oscar hadn't even wanted the drink. Janet was desperately trying to get close to him, realizing her chances were slim without resorting to such tactics.

Previously, Janet perceived Oscar as impassive towards women. Hannah, however, seemed an exception, prompting Janet's actions. Even if she couldn't win Oscar's love, she wouldn't let anyone else.

Without further response, Hannah approached the bed, roughly grabbing Oscar's pajamas. "Take them off."

A flicker of something special shone in his eyes. He hadn't expected her jealousy.

"Take them off! They're dirty!" Hannah insisted.

Janet understood. "Hannah, what do you mean? Dirty? Who are you referring to?"

"There are bloodstains. Miss Burke, don't you think they're dirty? He's being discharged; the pajamas need returning. Of course, he'll take them off." Hannah said casually, smiling wryly. "Miss Burke, what were you fussing about?"

Everyone understood. Janet, however, was speechless. Arguing meant accepting Hannah's implied accusation; silence was humiliating.

"Miss Burke, I'm helping my husband change. Care to stay and watch?" Hannah asked before Janet could react.

Janet was furious. She couldn't believe Hannah's audacity. Even if she failed to win Oscar's love, no one else should, she believed. Yet, here was Hannah, his wife, a perfect match everyone considered them to be, even at their wedding.

Burning with anger, Janet started to leave, pausing to speak. Lifting her head, she saw Oscar kissing Hannah. He initiated it. She couldn't believe it; Oscar had been so abstinent, never kissing anyone else on his own accord.

Janet was too enraged to speak, storming out and slamming the door.

Hannah hated the kiss, but enjoyed Janet's furious expression. She pushed Oscar away, gasping. "Hey, behave yourself!"

"I can't behave myself around you."

"Oscar!"

"I liked what you did. Consider my kiss a reward?" Oscar smiled.

Speechless, Hannah found him incredibly brazen. He continued smiling.

Hannah composed herself. "I don't mind you flirting with others."

His smile faltered.

"I hate Janet. That's why I stopped her."

"Alright, stop explaining." Oscar sounded reluctant.

"We promised we could seek our own true loves. As long as you're discreet, I'll tolerate it."

"Soโ€ฆ" Oscar stared.

"Soโ€ฆ you can ask Janet for a ride home."

Hannah didn't care what happened after that. Oscar seemed to smile again, though she sensed irritation. Then again, it seemed more like amusement, mirroring her own uncertainty regarding her feelings for him. Even Hannah didn't understand her own emotions.
