Chapter 163: She Swears to Hit Back
Mila followed Hannah into her office, her mind reeling from Hannah's imposing presence. The Advertising and Media Department was the company's dominant sector, controlling advertising resources and wielding considerable power. They could sabotage other departments' performance reviews with impunity, a fact tacitly accepted by everyone else for fear of jeopardizing their careers.
But Hannah had exposed their machinations, leaving the department director speechless. Despite Yan's fear of Hannah's position, he lacked any moral high ground. Mila reveled in this. Previously, sheโd had to constantly appease the Advertising and Media Department to secure resources, lest they sabotage her own department's performance. Their perceived superiority was galling; now, seeing them criticized was immensely satisfying.
"Mila," Hannah said, returning to her seat. "Yes, Ms. Hannah," Mila replied, regaining her composure.
"Keep an eye on them today, and ensure they complete our Light Building project promotion. If they don't, fax a report directly to the board of directors; let them handle it."
"Got it," Mila agreed. It was time to show the Advertising and Media Department who was truly in charge. Their condescending attitude had been infuriating.
"Get to work. Call me if you need anything." "Thanks, Ms. Hannah."
Hannah nodded slightly as Mila left.
After a moment, Hannah called, "Rose, come here, please." "Okay."
"Find the location Starlight Group plans to build their business circle. Verify if they've secured the land and obtained municipal approval," Hannah instructed.
"You think it's a trick?" Rose astutely replied.
"If it were anyone else, I wouldn't. But given my past dealings with Starlight Group, I suspect they might be targeting us." "Got it," Rose nodded, understandingly forgoing further questions about Hannah's past with Starlight Group. She knew better than to pry into her superior's personal affairs.
"Also, gently nudge Mann about the business list. Ask him to come to my office to review it with me once he's finished." "Yes."
Rose departed. Hannah immediately resumed work.
Jimmy, Hannah's long-time associate, once doubted her capabilities, just as he'd initially doubted his own partnership with Oscar. Yet, both had proven exceptionally capable. A thought struck Jimmy: Oscar and Hannah were remarkably well-suited. Both were decisive and possessed similarly formidable temperaments.
In the Cooper Group Vice President's office, Roger's good mood evaporated after hearing Yan's report. He was astonished by Hannah's thorough knowledge of various departments and divisions within Cooper Group.
"Vice President," Yan said cautiously, "Hannah's requested the promotion plan. If I can't deliver, I fear she'll report us to the Presidentโher father. We're on shaky ground regarding this promotion. This could severely damage not only the Advertising and Media Department, but also your reputation, sir."
Roger scowled. Yan dared not speak further. But Roger understood. He knew Hannah would make this a major issueโtypical Hannah. His acceptance of bribes from the Advertising and Media Department risked exposure if Hannah continued her investigation.
"Just do as she says. I wonder what she's up to with this promotion!" he gritted out. "Okay." Yan was relieved. He wouldn't dare oppose Hannah.
Just before closing time, Mila returned to Hannah's office, excitedly presenting the promotion plan. "They gave me the plan! Everything we requested, and they even upgraded it!"
Hannah smiled. "Pay attention to their progress. Don't let them fall behind. The result is paramount." "Got it."
"By the way," Hannah added, "is the spokesperson finalized?"
"Yes, they chose A-lister Tim. He's very popular and has worked with us successfully before," Mila reported, pleased with the choice.
"We're not using him," Hannah stated firmly. "Do you have someone in mind?" Mila asked.
"Win."
"She's hugely popular, but her endorsement fee is astronomical. I'm afraid we'll exceed our budget," Mila worried.
"To make this promotion successful, we need Northfield's most popular celebrity. The Advertising and Media Department will handle the cost. Make your request, and they'll comply."
"Okay," Mila agreed, deferring to Hannah's judgment. She admired Hannah implicitly. While Mila considered the choice extravagant, it wasn't her money; it was Starlight Group's. She was confident this decision benefited Starlight Group. She was no longer naive. She vowed to retaliate against anyone who crossed her.
