Chapter 245 Trick (1) Oscar, Don't Be So Greasy!
Donald redressed Oscar's wound. He said seriously, "You can't be infected anymore. I'm not a god, and neither are you." This meant they couldn't magically heal themselves. Oscar responded, though listlessly. Donald remained largely silent; everyone understood the unspoken truth. He packed his medical kit.
After Oscar tended to his wound, Theodore watched the weakened man and said, "Have you ever considered that Hannah might one day discover our secret? I never thought I'd deceive her constantly."
Oscar replied directly, "You're not worried about her finding out?"
"No need," Theodore said.
"But would she accept you?" Theodore asked rhetorically.
Oscar started to respond, but Theodore continued, "I'm just reminding you, from a humanistic perspective. Manuel died because of Susan. Don't repeat the same mistakes."
"I know how to manage things," Oscar retorted. "I think you don't even uphold your principles around her."
Oscar glared at him. Theodore avoided his gaze; Oscar's anger was intimidating. Noticing Donald packing his kit, Theodore quickly said, "Hey, Donald, I'll come with you." They left.
Oscar lay on the bed, staring at the ceiling in a daze. Theodore's words bothered him. Would Hannah accept him? He remained silent.
Then, someone opened the door. Hannah entered. Seeing Oscar's weakened state, a trace of anger flickered across her face. She muttered, "You deserve it," referring to his reckless behavior at the hotel that afternoon. "If you hadn't been so careless, you wouldn't have aggravated your wound."
"It's my honor to give my life for beauty," Oscar smirked flirtatiously. Sometimes, Hannah couldn't meet his gaze, fearing his seductive charm. She avoided him, heading to the bathroom to shower, her mind on Susan and Manuel's wedding night in her previous life. Later, they made love.
The next day, Hannah's alarm blared. Before she could silence it, Oscar already had. She looked at him, her eyes half-closed. He was drowsy, too; after turning off his phone, he pulled her close and fell back asleep.
Hannah shifted, finding him surprisingly heavy. Half his weight pressed on her, immobilizing her. She'd sometimes woken up feeling like a ghost was crushing her. She decided she needed to arrange for them to sleep separately now that he was recovering.
She wriggled free from his embrace. It was a workday, and she wasn't one for lingering in bed. Well-educated and self-disciplined, she'd always strived to give her best to the man she loved, only to be deeply hurt. Remembering her past tragedy, a surge of anger coursed through her; she wished she could kill Charles.
She quickly washed and sat at her vanity, applying makeup. She couldn't deny the difference between her 22-year-old self and her 32-year-old self in her previous life. At 22, her face was smooth, full of collagen, radiating youthful energy. She lingered before the mirror, admiring her reflection.
"I've never seen Miss Hannah so narcissistic," Oscar's voice startled her. She hadn't expected him to wake so easily.
"Without Miss An, sleep is difficult," he murmured.
Hannah wanted to retort. He seemed to know her thoughts. Did he possess supernatural abilities or was he simply perceptive? Either way, it was unsettling. She needed distance.
Oscar dressed in front of her, and she didn't look away, watching his naked form in the mirror.
"Does it look good?" he asked.
Hannah blushed, realizing she was staring. "What's there to see except skin and bones?"
Oscar smiled. "There's still love," he said. "Don't you notice my whole body exudes the scent of 'Loving You'?" He was undeniably over-the-top.
Hannah couldn't stand it anymore. "Oscar, ask Max to make you some green tea."
"Why?"
"To remove the grease," she said bluntly.
After dressing, they went downstairs for breakfast and then left together. Hannah understood; his early rising likely signaled work-related matters. Now officially employed, he had to maintain regular working hours. Jimmy drove Oscar first, then Hannah. She didn't mind sharing the ride; the car and driver were his, after all.
At Cooper Building, Hannah took Jimmy and Rose to her office. Rose reported, "Ms. Hannah, Light Building's traffic has skyrocketed for a week. Turnover hasn't decreased; it's steadily increasing. It's exceeding our projections by five percent."
Hannah nodded. Rose continued, "The preliminary plan for the 'Huatan' subdivision is complete. Shall we have a meeting today?"
"Ten o'clock," Hannah said.
"Yes," Rose replied respectfully. "Has Wayne shown any progress?"
Rose hesitated, "I haven't heard of any accomplishments."
"Keep an eye on him. Report anything unusual," Hannah instructed. Rose asked if Hannah wanted black coffee; Hannah, already immersed in her work, simply replied, "Thank you."
At ten, key sales employees were assembled for the meeting. Hannah stated, "Light Building's sales are excellent, but strategic marketing must continue. Ms. Mary, please remain vigilant."
"Yes," Mary replied.
"Today's focus is the 'Huatan' project. I've reviewed your plan…" Rose interrupted, presenting Hannah with a phone displaying a message from the chairman's secretary: "Inspectors from the official department are at the chairman's office."
