Chapter 303: A Twist of Fate (3) Hannah Comes to the Rescue
Henry paused, glaring at Martina as if to kill her. Martina, unafraid since childhood, remained unfazed. "I anticipated your refusal," she said casually, "so I drugged you. Without sex, you'll burst tomorrow."
"Martina!" Henry hissed.
"Someday you'll thank me for letting you have Susan and live like a real man!"
Henry's body trembled. He glared fiercely, then turned and left. Hearing Martina's threatโ"If you don't take Susan away, I'll make a sex toy out of her for all the men here!"โhe paused, but continued on, teeth gritted.
Martina watched him exit, heading straight for the door, not the dance floor. Her irritation mounted. Did he like Susan? If he did, he wouldn't have left her. She concluded he had no feelings for her.
Martina sneered, observing Susan's increasingly frantic dancing. The sight made her wonder if Susan would be devastated to learn of Henry's lack of affection. Martina yearned to witness Susan's grief.
Frowning, Martina decided on a different approach to ruining Susan's reputation now that Henry was gone. She picked up the phone, about to make a call, when Henry returned, rushing to the dance floor and dragging Susan away.
Martina smiled wickedly. Henry still cared, she realized; he couldn't leave Susan. While she wanted to see Susan heartbroken, she was pleased with the unfolding events. She followed them.
Meanwhile, Theodore, in a nightclub corner, smoked a cigarette. He glanced at the familiar figures, paused, then gave his half-smoked cigarette to a nearby associate, who quickly extinguished it. Theodore waved the man away and made a call.
"Hannah," he said.
Hannah, home and about to shower, received Theodore's call, sensing trouble. She worried about Oscar.
"I saw your friend Susan at the nightclub," Theodore said.
Hannah frowned. "She went to the nightclub again?" she asked, remembering her instructions for Susan to return home early. "When will she act like an adult?"
"She wasn't alone. Henry, her former lover, was there. They just left togetherโฆ" Theodore continued, "I suspect they're heading to a hotel."
Hannah wondered if Susan would cross the line.
"Susan looks incredibly drunk," Theodore added.
"How long ago did they leave?" Hannah asked.
"Where's the nearest hotel?"
"The Vidas Hotel, a five-star establishment."
"Okay," Hannah said urgently. "Thank you, Theodore."
"You're welโ" Hannah hung up before he finished. Theodore shrugged. He wasn't keen to meddle, but worried about Manuel. Susan betraying Manuel could be disastrous; Susan's life meant little compared to Manuel's.
Theodore made another call.
"Theodore."
"Oscar, are you doing it tomorrow?"
"Yeah."
"Be careful."
"I know," Oscar replied. "Please protect Hannah for me. I'm afraid Charles will make a move on her."
"You've said that hundreds of times," Theodore said impatiently.
"Thanks," Oscar said. Despite their close bond, Theodore felt uncomfortable with Oscar thanking him for Hannah. "You both thanked me today. What a couple!" he grumbled.
"Hannah called you today?" Oscar asked.
"No, it was me. I saw Susan and Henry leave and knew something fishy was going on; nobody escapes my notice. I informed her."
"Yeah," Oscar replied curtly.
"Why does Manuel love Susan so much?" Theodore mused, puzzled by Manuel's affection for Susan.
Oscar remained silent, understanding the question's unanswerability. It was like his own love for Hannahโinexplicable, profound, and ultimately a matter of destiny or fate.
Hannah hung up and called Jimmy. "Jimmy, please come to the villa. Emergency."
"Got it," Jimmy responded immediately.
Hannah changed and went downstairs, seeing the car arrive. She had no time for praise, urging Jimmy to the Vidas Hotel immediately.
"Mr. Wells won't let me drive fast," Jimmy hesitated.
Hannah remembered Oscarโs instructions to Theodore to drive quickly. "It's an emergency. I'll explain to him." Seeing her anxiety, Jimmy accelerated.
Gripping the armrest, Hannah's tension stemmed from the speed and concern for Susan. "Don't do anything stupid with Henry!" she prayed.
They arrived quickly. Hannah rushed into the hotel lobby, startling the receptionist.
"Which room is Susan Johnson in?" Hannah demanded.
The receptionist hesitated. "I'm sorry, miss, we can't disclose guest information."
"My friend is drunk and was brought here against her will. She'll be raped if you don't tell me where she is. And if anything happens, you can't afford it!" Hannah's forceful demeanor left the receptionist speechless.
