Listen to this chapter:

After dinner, Oscar volunteered to wash the dishes. Hannah approached and placed her hands on his waist. Oscar paused, smiling. The only sound was the gentle rush of water, yet a cozy intimacy filled the small room.

Hannah had never felt so at home in such a simple space. It offered a sense of safety, nostalgia, and belonging.

"How long will you stay?" Oscar asked.

"A week," Hannah replied. "I'll be back on Monday." Secretly, she wished for forever.

"Okay," Oscar said, a hint of sadness in his voice. "The news says the South Bay New Town project went to the Sawyer Group."

"Yeah, I did it on purpose," Hannah admitted, honesty unwavering.

"I know," Oscar smiled. "That's why I didn't call to comfort you." He seemed to be explaining his delayed reassurance. He understood her.

"By the way," Hannah said, a sudden thought striking her, "Charles might have a spy watching you."

"Yes," Oscar nodded, seemingly unsurprised.

"He's pure evil," Hannah warned.

"Don't worry. I have my own resources."

Hannah laughed. His nonchalant admission was both startling and reassuring. She felt safe knowing he could handle himself; she couldn't bear the thought of anyone close to her being harmed by Charles.

Finishing the dishes, Oscar turned and gently held Hannah in his arms. She was speechless.

"Never speak of other men," he said, his voice serious.

Hannah remained silent; she hadn't been the one to mention another man.

"Alright, let's go to bed," Oscar said, scooping her into his arms. He seemed eager, as if a long-awaited moment had arrived.

Hannah was surprised. "We just ate! I haven't digested yet. I want to watch TV for a while."

"Don't worry. As your husband, I'll let you do some 'sports' before sleep."

"...No way!"

That night was passionate, the air thick with the scent of love.

Lying on the bed, Hannah felt utterly exhausted, surprisingly more so than Oscar despite his intense movements.

At 7:00 am, despite her desire for a leisurely vacation morning, Oscar roused her, his mood bright and energetic. Watching him dress, Hannah thought, 'What an animal!' He knelt, his handsome face drawing closer. He kissed her gently. Too tired to resist, Hannah simply let him. The kiss deepened, lingering before he pulled away, satisfied. "Sleep more," he murmured.

Hannah opened her eyes. "If you hadn't woken me, I'd still be in Wonderland with Alice. Don't do that again. I don't appreciate it."

Oscar smiled. She noticed he smiled often now, the quality of his smiles seemingly different. In her past life, as a member of an aristocratic family, he rarely smiled; she remembered him as cold and distant, a stark contrast to the man beside her.

She wondered if she had changed him, or if he had changed her.

Reaching out, Hannah wrapped her arms around his neck.

Oscar looked surprised by the shift in her demeanor.

"Oscar, you should smile more," Hannah said seriously, a hint of sorrow for his past self in her voice. "I like seeing you smile."

"Okay," he replied instantly, his promise unwavering.

Their kiss resumed. Then, unexpectedly, he lifted the quilt and leaped onto the bed.

"What are you doing?" Hannah asked, startled.

"I decided to take the day off," he said.

"..." Was she a siren?

"I want to spend the day with you at home."

"Who told you to do that?" Hannah urged. "Go back to work! People will think you're neglecting your duties."

She pushed him with her arms and legs, but he remained steadfast. After a moment, he took a deep breath, leaped off the bed, and fled, seemingly afraid of further temptation.

Hannah laughed, but her amusement quickly faded, replaced by a thoughtful frown. 'How long until the fear ends?' she wondered, gazing at the spot where he'd lain. She looked forward to cherishing their time together, and the rest of their lives, once they returned to Kensbury City.

She slept soundly until the afternoon, then began messaging Oscar:

Hannah: When will you be home?

Oscar: 6 pm.

Hannah: Should I pick up some food?

Oscar: Dress like a lady. I'll send you a menu.

Hannah: Got it.

Oscar: Do you miss me?

Hannah: No.

Oscar: But I miss you.

His candor surprised her. She felt like she'd hurt an innocent boy.

Taking a deep breath, she decided on a surprise. She recorded a sweet voice message: "I miss you, husband." She blushed, uncertain of his reaction.

His reply came after a long silence. A low, magnetic voice: "Wait for me at home, my darling."

Hannah replayed the message repeatedly, captivated by the seductive quality of his tone.
