Chapter 433: Embraced by Happiness

Little Bunny knew it was Theodore. Tossing and turning in the unfamiliar bed, she'd been unable to sleep. Then, she heard the door open and sat up quickly. The light was dim, but she saw Theodore looked sullen. He looked at her.

"Welcome home," Little Bunny said softly.

"Did I wake you?" he asked.

"No, I couldn't sleep," she replied.

"Time for bed. It's late."

"What about you?" she asked, noticing him take out a cigarette and head to the balcony.

"I need some fresh air to clear my head," he said.

"Mr. Wold, won't you lie down with me?" she asked.

He turned, replying honestly, "I've never shared a bed with a woman withoutโ€ฆ you know. It feels strange." He felt uncomfortable doing nothing while she lay there.

Little Bunny had researched him. He'd had numerous affairs with female celebrities, most of whom, despite his generosity, had been eager to please him. She knew his history with women; he'd never had a serious relationship. Now, however, he was being forced into marriage with her, and she sensed his displeasure. Initially, she'd worried about his retaliation, but he seemed reasonable.

She decided to be sincere. A lifelong marriage might be unrealistic, she acknowledged, but as someone who disliked conflict, she hoped for a peaceful coexistence.

"I'll sleep on the couch. It looks big enough," she suggested.

"Come on, my dad will kill me if you sleep on the couch," he said.

"Alright."

Staring at her, he realized he hadn't properly looked at her face during their encounter in the car, or yesterday when she'd been heavily made-up before her appointment. Now, without makeup, she looked young and pure. Though not stunningly beautiful, she possessed a captivating prettiness that set her apart.

He wondered if she was too young to marry.

"How old are you?" he asked.

She realized they barely knew each other.

"Twenty. Old enough to marry," she answered.

"Twenty? You didn't go to college?"

She explained awkwardly, "No. I was a regular student, and not very interested in academics. I wanted to study drama, but my family disagreed. They thought the tuition was too expensive and that I lacked talent. They wouldn't support my dream, so I left home and struggled in Kensbury for two years since graduating high school. Except for an endorsement from Mrs. Wells, I haven't achieved much."

"Okay," he said, seeming uninterested.

Little Bunny didn't continue.

"Mr. Woldโ€ฆ" she began hesitantly.

He felt he must seem frightening to her; she always appeared fearful when speaking to him.

"I won't bother you," she said.

He didn't seem to mind; no woman dared to bother him. He had no intention of threatening her.

"Go to sleep. I'll join you when I'm tired."

"Okay," she said, nodding obediently.

He went to the balcony, a slight smile on his face. Little Bunnyโ€”what a funny name. She did look like a sweet bunny. He wondered if it was a stage name. In his opinion, their marriage wouldn't last.

After two days, Oscar left the following morning, as usual. He gave Hannah a soft, gentle goodbye kiss while she slept, then left reluctantly.

Each morning, she awoke to an empty room and a note: 'Wait for me, from your beloved Oscar.' His handwriting was elegant. The simple note warmed her immensely.

"Sweet, but sick," she murmured, though she couldn't stop looking at it. She could spend all day staring at it, she thought.

She felt an infatuation she'd never experienced before. She barely remembered her feelings for Charles, but her obsession with Oscar far surpassed that. She wanted to call him, beg him to come back.

If not for her increased maturity since returning to this life, she would risk everything for Oscar.

Reluctantly, she put down the note, got up, washed, dressed, and applied makeup.

Max rushed to serve her breakfast when she came downstairs. He stood respectfully after setting the food on the table.

Hannah was speechless at the extravagant breakfast. She couldn't imagine how much more lavish it would be if she were pregnant; she'd likely gain significant weight.

The thought was horrifying, yet sweet. Every display of Oscar's love filled her with immense happiness.
