Chapter 465: The Game (8) Have Something on Him

Hannah received Manuel's call while sitting on the toilet, feeling low. Her period had arrived, complicating her already difficult path to pregnancy, a challenge she'd faced in her previous life due to birth control pills. But whose problem was it now?

She answered weakly, "Hey, Manuel."

"The Sawyer family just left Phillips Bank."

"Probably for the loan," she replied.

"Bingo!" Manuel exclaimed. "They applied for a billion-dollar loan, six-month term."

"What's the collateral?"

"House properties."

"Where?"

"Panket Island."

"Fake," Hannah declared confidently. Cooper Group's luxurious seafront properties on Panket Island were highly sought after, purchased by the upper class and wealthy investors alike. The Sawyer family, however, hadn't participated in this boom. She remembered Martina's desire for one, a wish dashed by their financial limitations. Hannah was certain their property certificates were fraudulent.

"I'll get an electronic copy of Charles's loan application procedures," Manuel said.

"Be careful. Don't tip them off."

"Consider it done."

"Still working Saturday?" Hannah asked.

"Nothing else to do."

"Really?"

"Or...?"

"I thought you were lonely."

"What are you implying?"

"Nothing. Get back to work," Hannah said with a smile. Manuel chuckled softly.

Hannah hung up, got up, changed her hygiene products, and lay on the bed, disheartened. Instead of calling Oscar, she texted: "I'm on my period again."

Five minutes later, his reply: "OK."

Probably at a loss for words. Then another text: "Don't be disappointed. I'll work harder. I'll be back next month; we'll have plenty of time then."

"Oscar..." Hannah hesitated.

He called. "What's wrong?"

Hannah pursed her lips. "Maybe you need a physical."

Oscar was speechless.

"I trust you, but a checkup's better. They say sleeping around affects fertility," Hannah explained.

Oscar protested, "Mrs. Wells, your husband doesn't sleep around!"

"I know you've been faithful since we married, but the past matters," Hannah retorted. "A pre-pregnancy checkup is best. We'll face any problems together."

"Are you so sure it's my problem?" Oscar asked, the implication clear.

"I'm healthy," Hannah stated firmly. Previous examinations had consistently shown no issues.

"I'll go with you next time," she declared.

"OK," Oscar agreed, ready to prove her wrong.

"I need a nap," Hannah said, her spirits low. "I have a big undertaking in a few days. I need to focus."

"You've got something on Charles?"

"It depends on Manuel," Hannah said confidently, "but I believe he can do it."

"Then I'll wait for the winning game."

"What do you mean?" Hannah frowned.

"You're eliminating one of my mortal enemies. Don't you think I benefit?" Oscar stated matter-of-factly.

Of course! Charles and Oscar were sworn enemies! Only she knew the twist of fate that led her to marry Oscar, Charles's nemesis.

On Monday, Hannah received the transfer from Sawyer Group. Soon after, Charles called.

"Keep the money safe, Hannah!"

"It's not for me! I'll send the detailed accounts to you and Mr. Jones," Hannah replied vigilantly.

Charles was merely showing off. "Didn't you think we lacked the funds? Sawyer's still struggling, huh? Funny! We can invest another billion! It's a piece of cake!" he boasted arrogantly.

Hannah smiled coldly. His triumph would be short-lived.

She dedicated herself to the international e-commerce project, needing to establish international channels within half a month, launch the online shopping platform, and begin marketing and investment attraction.

Rose returned to the office. "Ms. Hannah, you're heavily invested in Sawyer Group's e-commerce project. Success will boost our reputation, but we're essentially profiting Sawyer. They'll be the primary beneficiaries. Are you sure you want to help them so much, considering their past actions?"

"Who said I was helping them?" Hannah countered. "I'm doing this for myself."

Rose remained confused, given Sawyer Group and Bills' company would reap most of the profits, leaving Cooper Group with only 10%.

"Just do as I say," Hannah changed the subject. "How much have we spent?"

"Around six hundred million," Rose replied. "We need a two-hundred-million advance payment next week, leaving only one hundred million in working capital."

"Review the financial statements. If they're accurate, send them to Sawyer Group and Bills Group for approval."

"OK, Ms. Hannah."

"Get back to work."

"OK," Rose replied and departed.

Hannah reviewed the documents, then called Manuel.

"Hi, Manuel, you have the copy?"

"Yes," he replied.

"Talk to Henry, as planned."

"Right."

"But think carefully before acting," Hannah warned. "Consider whether you want to spare Henry."
