Chapter 530: Theodore's Release
The luncheon concluded. As other guests departed, Hannah decided to leave the wedding as well; she had accomplished her goals.
"Hannah, leaving already?" Susan asked, reluctant to go. She had no interest in the banquet, especially since Hannah was leaving.
"Yes," Hannah replied, nodding.
"May I come with you?" Henry, socializing nearby, asked. Susan, glancing at him, said, "Wait, I'll tell Henry."
Returning quickly, Susan reported that while Henry enjoyed socializing, he would accompany them. Susan sensed a change in Henry's demeanor, but dismissed it. She happily left with Hannah.
At the door, a staff member returned their coats. Hannah frowned at Susan's short coat. "Won't you be cold?" she asked.
"A beautiful lady must dress nicely, regardless of the weather," Susan replied.
Hannah was speechless. As they stepped outside, a gust of cold wind hit them, causing Susan to shiver.
"Look at you!" Hannah exclaimed.
"Where's your car?" Susan asked, trembling.
"Over there," Hannah pointed. Susan rushed to the car, looking less like a lady and more like a frantic animal. Once inside, she said to Jimmy, "It's freezing! Turn up the heat."
She noticed Manuel, silent and expressionless, in the front seat. Susan's words trailed off; she felt an urge to leave, but Hannah entered the car, interrupting her.
Hannah instructed Jimmy, "Take Susan home first."
The ride was uncomfortably quiet. Susan silently resented Hannah's omission of Manuel's presence.
"Cold?" Hannah asked.
Susan quickly shook her head, "No."
"Then why are you shivering?"
Susan's discomfort remained. Hannah instructed Jimmy to increase the heat further.
Soon, they reached Susan's home. As Susan prepared to exit, Hannah stopped her, offering her own coat. Susan refused, concerned about Hannah's comfort. Then, Manuel offered Hannah his coat.
Hannah explained the situation, and Susan, silently acknowledging the distance between herself and Manuel, accepted Hannah's coat. "I'll go now, bye," she said.
"Go home, take a hot shower, and avoid catching cold," Hannah advised.
After leaving, Susan glanced back, feeling a sense of loss.
The car arrived at the villa. Manuel and Hannah discussed their plan regarding Oscar.
"I'll send the video to Charles; if it goes as planned, I'll see Oscar tonight."
"Yes," Manuel agreed. "But Charles likely won't allow a private meeting. You'll need to carefully record the conversation for later analysis."
"He probably won't let me bring anything in," Hannah said.
"So remember everything Oscar says," Manuel reiterated.
During their conversation, Manuel's phone rang. His eyes lit up. "It's Theodore."
Hannah's heart quickened. Manuel answered, and Theodore announced his imminent arrival in Kensbury, around 7 pm. He planned to join them at Oscar's.
Theodore's release filled Hannah with anticipation of obtaining evidence proving Mary and Oscar's innocence.
Arriving at the villa, Theodore immediately requested food and a shower. He then called out for clothes. Hannah retrieved a set of Oscar's unused clothes.
After showering and eating, a refreshed Theodore joined them. "Okay, I'm ready. Tell me your plan."
Hannah explained her intention to question Oscar about the financial statements and the accusations of rape and Mary's subsequent suicide.
Theodore interrupted, "Oscar anticipated Mary's actions that night, and we have evidence they never had sex."
