Chapter 651: A Romantic Kiss

Oscar escorted Cian to the waiting black cars. Several men stood ready.

"Cian," Oscar called as Cian reached the car.

Cian turned. Oscar patted him on the shoulder. "Safe trip."

"You know, Oscar," Cian said with a smile, "I'm very happy, even though it's brief."

Oscar stared.

"I've seen you off since childhood," Cian continued, "always watching you drive away. This is the first time you've seen me off."

Oscar was surprised by Cian's sentiment.

"Hannah's a good person," he said. "Don't let her down."

Oscar nodded. Cian smiled, saying nothing more. He knew their lives had been largely predetermined.

Cian entered the car, followed by Laird. The cars departed. Oscar finally understood Cian's feelings.

A moment later, he returned to the house and found Hannah waiting. Seeing her lifted his spirits; it felt like spring after a long winter. He smiled, relieved and content.

Hannah took his hand, and he pulled her close.

"Did I cause trouble?" Hannah asked, referring to bringing Cian to the party. Laird was angry, and she knew others might be too, despite their loyalty to Oscar and Cian, descendants of the Royal Wells Family.

"Nope," he murmured, his voice rich and warm. "Thank you, my wife."

Hannah smiled.

"I always thought I cared for Cian," she said, "spending time with him on the island, fulfilling his needs, tolerating his quirks. But I never considered what he truly wanted. He was happy I saw him off."

Hannah leaned against him, listening to his heartbeat. "What Cian wants is your attention and care."

Oscar nodded. Their bond was strong, enduring even the weight of their family feud.

He looked down at Hannah, admitting her insightful understanding. He'd expected her to be frightened by his revelations, but her support warmed his heart.

He raised her chin, gazing at her lips. He'd avoided intimacy with her since her pregnancy, fearing harm to the baby. But under the moonlight, he couldn't resist.

He leaned in. Hannah's heart raced; she blushed, her pulse quickening with anticipation. She closed her eyes and met his kiss. They lost themselves in the moment.

"I'll have to wait another two hours if I don't interrupt," a familiar voice declared.

Hannah gasped; Oscar pulled back abruptly. The interruption soured the moment.

Hannah pushed him away, though the sight of her swollen lips rekindled his desire. Hannah, too, felt the lingering heat. She usually felt she was charmed by him, rather than the other way around. They remained silent, gazing at each other.

"For God's sake! Enough!" Susan thundered, her voice cutting through the silence. Sheโ€™d waited too long; if she hadn't intervened, they wouldnโ€™t have stopped. Even so, she had to admit, it was an impressive kiss.

Two striking figures stood bathed in moonlight, kissing passionatelyโ€”a sight far more captivating than any television romance. It was a shame they werenโ€™t actors. But Susan's annoyance over Hannah's prior engagement with Oscar had spurred her interruption.

Hannah and Oscar remained oblivious until Susan spoke again.

"Susan? What are you doing here?" Hannah asked, surprised.

"You told me not to come," Susan retorted. "So, bite me!"

Hannah knew Susan could be childish, but she doubted this was mere mischief. Susan must be in trouble. And, since Cian had left, she didn't need to worry about maintaining Cian's secrecy.

Susan entered the sitting room without asking.

"Let's go," Hannah said to Oscar.

Oscar nodded, still clearly enthralled by the kiss. Hannah smiled, finding amusement in his lingering infatuation.
