Chapter 656: It Isn’t Good to Be a Two-Timer

Susan left work on time that evening. Hannah was waiting at the gate of Susan's house. Seeing her from afar, Susan ran toward Hannah, but Jimmy intercepted her.

Susan was furious. She believed Jimmy was guarding Hannah from her.

Hannah, noticing Susan's displeasure, immediately explained, "I'm pregnant. Jimmy's just overprotective. Don't worry about it."

"What?" Susan exclaimed.

Hannah stroked her belly, soothing the baby. Jimmy, too, was startled by Susan's outburst.

"Oh my god! You're pregnant? When? Why didn't you tell me? How long? How are you feeling? Morning sickness?" Susan peppered Hannah with questions. She pushed Jimmy aside, and though he yielded, he remained close by, attentively watching Susan.

"About eight weeks. So far, so good. Just a little morning sickness when I brush my teeth," Hannah explained, then went inside with Susan.

"Really! Lucky you!" Susan murmured. "I suffered terribly during my pregnancy. I threw up constantly. Whenever I think about it…" Susan trailed off, overcome with sadness.

"It's okay, Susan. You'll have more babies," Hannah comforted her, squeezing her hand.

Susan nodded, but a wave of sadness washed over her. When would she have another baby? And even then, it wouldn't be Manuel's. The thought of her past resentment toward her own pregnancy now filled her with immense regret.

"Oscar must be nervous, right?" Susan asked.

"He's overreacting," Hannah replied.

"Oh? Tell me everything!" Susan eagerly prompted, ever ready for gossip.

Hannah recounted Oscar's recent actions, more in the spirit of complaining than sharing. Susan listened, laughing heartily. She learned that Theodore had become a father.

"Seriously? Theodore's married? With a child?" Susan was astonished. She had always assumed the irresponsible playboy would face divine retribution.

"Yes," Hannah confirmed.

"Who's his wife? She must be cursed!" Susan exclaimed.

"Little Bunny."

Hannah had instructed secrecy, but Susan was unlikely to reveal the information.

"Who's Little Bunny?" Susan pressed.

"The spokesperson for our shopping center. She's an actress."

"Oh, I see," Susan recalled. "So, she's in hell now! What a pity!"

"Who knows? Time will tell," Hannah smiled.

"You think Little Bunny can handle Theodore?" Susan asked, surprised.

"Let's wait and see."

"Hannah," Susan said meaningfully, "I think you have a superpower."

"Sorry?" Hannah raised an eyebrow.

"You can foresee the future."

Hannah giggled. She did possess a kind of foresight, having lived ten years beyond them.

"Otherwise, how could you choose Oscar?"

Hannah had chosen Oscar over Charles, a promising young man, while Oscar was a notorious playboy. Susan still marveled at Hannah's astute choice.

They chatted and gossiped until Oscar returned from his dinner party. Observing that Oscar was leaving the next day, Susan left to give them some privacy.

Later, Susan rode home with Jimmy, reflecting on Hannah's thoughtfulness. Lost in thought, she was jolted back to reality.

"Miss Phillips?" Jimmy asked.

"Have we arrived?" Susan asked, embarrassed by her apparent daydreaming.

"Not yet," Jimmy replied.

Susan admitted she had fallen asleep.

Jimmy glanced at her through the rearview mirror. "Are you happy with Mr. Johnson?" he asked.

Susan, startled, replied, "Not really."

"Do you love him?" he pressed.

"Sorry?" Susan responded, surprised by Jimmy's bluntness.

"If you don't love him, stay away from him," Jimmy stated plainly.

"Are you close to Manuel?" Susan asked, her lips pursed. She'd noticed Manuel's frequent visits to Hannah's, though not for Hannah's sake. She chose not to pry.

Ignoring her question, Jimmy declared, "It isn't good to be a two-timer."

Even Jimmy couldn't tolerate her infidelity.

After dropping Susan off, Jimmy drove away, unsure if he'd overstepped, but believing Manuel deserved better.

That evening, Hannah waited for Oscar to finish showering, bracing herself for his departure. She found it difficult to accept his leaving. She sighed, then saw him emerge, toweling his hair, his muscled physique undeniable. She deliberately looked away.

Oscar chuckled. "We must restrain ourselves for our baby girl," he said.

Hannah was weary of their debate over the baby's gender. A baby boy would be quite the ironic twist.
