Chapter 775: I Miss You
"Oscar, you're a jerk! Abandoning your wife and child for wealth and power? A disgusting two-timer! Aren't you ashamed? You're a man! Act like one! Why keep Hannah here? To watch you fawn over another woman?" Susanโs tirade continued relentlessly. She couldn't stop cursing him.
Oscar remained silent, his gloom palpable. Theodore, initially appalled, later felt a surge of loyalty. As Oscar's friend, he should support him. Yet, Hannah had been deeply wronged. She'd endured it silently, perhaps finding some measure of satisfaction in Susan's outburst.
"If I were Hannah," Susan raged, "I wouldn't carry your child! I'd take him and find him a stepfather! Bite me!"
Hannah, fearing Susanโs escalating fury, quietly descended the stairs.
Susan, seeing her, intensified her attack. "Just in time, Hannah! I'm getting justice for you! I'm giving this love rat a good scoldingโฆ"
"Susan," Hannah interrupted.
Susan frowned, her displeasure evident.
"Stop it. You're drunk."
"No, I'm not!" Susan retorted.
"Susan!"
Susan's lips tightened. She wondered why Hannah still defended Oscar. Surely, Hannah wouldn't publicly advocate for respect for him; he'd soon be king. Meeting him was a great honor for commoners; insulting him was unthinkable.
Approaching Susan, Hannah gently took her hand. "It's late. Go home and rest."
"I'm staying."
"Tomorrow? It's inconvenient tonight."
"Inconvenient?" Susan's voice rose. "Are you going to sleep with Oscar?"
Hannah remained silent, thinking Oscar might want to speak with her privately, and she didn't want to involve Susan in their personal matters.
"Hannah, don't be a pushover! Don't yield to his power!" Susan pleaded.
"Hannah's pregnant. Oscar isn't that horny," Theodore reminded her.
"Shut the fuck up!" Susan yelled. "He abandoned his wife and child! Do you still think he has a heart?"
Theodore fell silent, acknowledging Oscar's unforgivable actions.
"Cheer up, Hannah. Don't let him get away with it!" Susan urged.
"Okay. Oscar isn't that terrible," Hannah offered a weak smile. She was sure he wouldn't force himself on her.
"Damn it! You're still defending him!" Susan's eyes widened in disbelief. "He's a lucky bastard to have you!"
"That's enough," Hannah insisted, gently urging Susan toward the door. "Time to go home."
"Nopeโฆ"
"I'll call Manuel to pick you up."
"No! Don't!" Susan protested immediately.
"Why? Another fight?" Hannah asked, frowning.
"How dare I? He's my boss! I can't afford to offend him. It's justโฆ I'm uncomfortable around him," Susan grumbled.
Hannah understood; Susan knew when to be humble and when to stand her ground.
"You've got guts, cursing the future king!" Theodore exclaimed, defending Manuel, knowing his friendโs suffering at Susan's hands.
Susan swore. "He's not king yet!"
Theodore erupted in laughter. Susan was hilariousโand smart, seizing the opportunity to berate Oscar before his ascension. His earlier dislike of her vanished.
Oscar glanced at Theodore, who stifled his laughter.
Susan, bewildered, rolled her eyes at Theodore and said to Hannah, "I'll stay with you tonight."
"Thanks, but no. I need to talk to Oscar. Come tomorrow, okay?" Hannah then turned to Theodore. "Mr. Wold, could you drive Susan home?"
Theodore was stunned. The "Mr. Wold" was clearly intended for Oscar, who nodded subtly.
Theodore stood and approached Susan. "Come on. I'll take you home."
"No!"
"Damn it! Don't make me drag you!" Theodore growled.
"Youโฆ"
He grabbed her arm. Susan, startled by his forceful action, screamed. "What are you doing? Are you going to kill me? Because I cursed Oscar?"
Her screams echoed as Theodore dragged her out.
"Don't worry. Theodore won't hurt her," Oscar reassured Hannah.
Hannah understood; thatโs why sheโd asked Theodore to take Susan home. Turning back to Oscar, she asked, "What's the matter?"
Oscar met her gaze, his lips slightly pursed. She was so calm.
"Will you accept it if I say I miss you?" he asked.
"Does it matter? Can I say no?" Hannah replied indifferently.
