Chapter 796: The Change of Her Attitude

Theodore was shocked to learn Oscar and Hannah were back together. It felt like a rollercoaster, but ultimately, a relief. He elbowed Manuel, asking, "Hannah still loves Oscar, right?"

Manuel glanced at him silently, his expression leaving Theodore feeling despised. Before Theodore could explode, Oscar called his name, entering immediately, followed by Manuel.

"Let's get out of here," Oscar said.

"Okay," Theodore nodded.

"Hannah's in poor health. Tell the medical staff to provide 24/7 care," Oscar instructed.

"Got it."

Oscar then ordered, "Escort Lillian back to the Capital." He glanced at Lillian.

Lillian offered an innocent smile. "I'll handle the communication. She's improving. It's time for me to return to the Capital."

Theodore, surprisingly, found Lillian's actions commendable, revising his opinion of her. He'd initially disliked her, viewing her as a puppet forced into marrying Oscar by Rowan. He now understood her lack of alternatives.

"But, Oscar," Lillian said, rising from the couch and approaching Oscar, who had closed his laptop, "Father has repeatedly urged you to stay in the Capital longer, given your recent ascension to power. I'll tell him you're unwell and need rest. I'll explain that he should handle your responsibilities temporarily, but that's not a long-term solution. Please return to the Capital as soon as possible. I believe Hannah will understand." Her words, delivered softly, conveyed genuine concern for Oscar's well-being.

"Okay," Oscar replied.

"Promise?" Lillian asked, smiling broadly.

"Yeah."

"I'll leave the hospital with you. You can take Hannah home, and I'll go to the airport with Theodore."

"Okay. Deal."

Lillian remained easygoing. Theodore, after a flurry of activity, secured the discharge papers.

They left the hospital. Hannah walked ahead, followed by Oscar and Lillian. Hannah waited in the car while Oscar saw Lillian off.

Before entering the car, Lillian looked at Oscar. "Take care of yourself. Northfield depends on you."

Oscar nodded. "You too. Take care, and..."

"And the baby, right?" Lillian smiled gently.

"Yeah."

"No worries. I'll take good care of him," Lillian said. "He's an angel. I'm twelve weeks along, and I haven't even had morning sickness."

Oscar's expression softened as he spoke of the baby.

Hannah, though trying not to eavesdrop, was positioned where she could both see and hear their farewell. The driver waited with the car door open, making their conversation unavoidable.

"Be careful," Oscar said.

"Okay, I will," Lillian replied, her sweetness and obedience contrasting sharply with Hannah's demeanor toward Oscar.

"I'm going," Lillian said.

Oscar nodded.

As Lillian was about to get into the car, she suddenly retched. Oscar instantly caught her arm. Lillian clutched her stomach, looking pained.

"What's wrong?" Oscar asked.

"Nothing. Justโ€ฆa stomach ache," Lillian said, wincing.

"Want some water?"

"No, I'm fine. Just a second," Lillian said, gripping Oscar's hand tightly.

Hannah looked away from the pair, focusing on the busy streets of Kensbury City.

After a moment, Lillian recovered. "Gee, the baby must have known we were talking about him. He's protesting!"

Oscar looked at her anxiously.

"I'm fine now," Lillian smiled. "Gotta go."

"Okay."

Lillian released Oscar's hand and entered the car. Once seated, she smiled secretly, confident Hannah had witnessed the entire exchangeโ€”precisely as she'd planned. She'd never intended to reconcile Hannah and Oscar; her goal was to secure Oscar for herself.

Theodore joined Lillian in the car. Oscar spoke briefly to Theodore before rejoining Hannah in her car. Hannah remained impassive. Max sat beside her, while Manuel had departed in a separate car.

The car carrying Hannah slowly headed toward Oscar's villa, surrounded by a dozen protective vehicles. Oscar was clearly no longer the same man he used to be.

Hannah pondered silently, as did Oscar. He attempted to break the silence but ultimately refrained, mirroring Hannah's quietude.

Upon arriving at the villa, a guard opened the door for Hannah. Oscar supported her as she exited the car. Hannah bit her lip but didn't pull away. Oscar's hand trembled slightly, but he composed himself, helping her inside.

Despite her absence, the house remained impeccably clean and tidy. For a fleeting moment, Hannah felt a sense of contentment; she liked the house, regardless of circumstances.

"I want to nap in my room," Hannah said.

"Okay," Oscar nodded, appearing overly cautious. He walked her to her room, helping her into bed. "Take a nap. I'll tell Max to prepare your favorite food."

"Okay," Hannah replied.

"Sleep tight," Oscar said, tucking her in before turning to leave.

"Want to rest?" Hannah asked.

Oscar was stunned.

"You probably didn't sleep well at the hospital," Hannah continued. "Come lie down if you want."
