Chapter 823: The End of Sarah

“I know what I said might not convince you, and you may even find it disgusting. But I don't regret it. You have to understand his difficult position; most of the time, he had no choice.”

Everyone faces difficult moments where they feel powerless. However, she never considered this a justification for forcing a compromise. If she were to sympathize with Oscar’s situation, who would share her burden?

Hannah didn’t hesitate. Staring at Manuel, she asked, “So what do you want me to do?”

Was he going to make her publicly confess to setting up Sarah? she wondered.

“Sarah’s under detention. I’ll take you to her. Just tell her what you did. Then, those around her will inform Rowan.”

“Okay.”

“Hannah,” Manuel said, “everything will be better.”

Hannah offered a false smile. She knew his words were empty reassurance.

She followed Manuel to a special detention center, a place designed to maintain some semblance of respect for Sarah.

Sarah was furious, shouting and banging on the door. “Let me out! I committed no crime! How dare you detain me? I did nothing wrong! You’ll regret this!” Her enraged cries echoed through the grim space.

A pregnant Hannah arrived at the gate. The jailer opened it for her. Sarah was initially irritated, but her expression changed to stunned surprise at Hannah’s appearance. Her face contorted with fury.

“What the hell are you doing here? Get out! I don’t want to see you!” she screamed.

“I don’t want to either,” Hannah replied frankly, “but your pathetic display is worth the visit.”

“Hannah!” Sarah trembled with rage.

“I overestimated you. I thought you were clever, even though Charles fooled you,” Hannah said sarcastically.

“What do you mean?” Sarah’s jaw tightened.

“I didn’t expect you to be so weak. It took minimal effort to get you detained,” Hannah sneered.

“What do you mean?” Sarah snarled.

“Fine, I’ll be honest. I set you up. That’s why you were recorded.”

Sarah glared. She’d believed Oscar was responsible, setting her up before her family entered the business world. Though defeated, she didn't consider it a humiliation; she knew she couldn't compete with Oscar, the man who'd defeated her father. But she never imagined Hannah was behind it all.

Disbelief etched her features. “Don’t lie! I know you wouldn’t!”

“I wouldn’t have that confidence in myself, but your unexpected stupidity made it easy.”

“You!”

“Rose called to complain about your treatment of them and how you’d made the office a horrible place. Regardless of Cooper Group’s ownership, the staff fought alongside the Coopers for the company’s success. I couldn’t stand by while you tormented them. So I told Rose to film your worst side.”

Sarah glared. It had been Rose.

“I also manipulated Kanae into speaking ill of you and comparing you to me. I orchestrated everything. I know what pushes your buttons. Once your pride was hurt, you’d retaliate. But your reaction surprised me. Sarah, I thought you’d learned better manners. I couldn’t believe your foul language…”

“Shut up!” Sarah shrieked, nearing a complete breakdown.

“I had Kanae threaten you to broaden the impact. It exceeded even my expectations.”

Sarah's eyes burned, a feeling like she wanted to slit her throat.

“Oh, and the magazine interview? I arranged it through Manuel. That’s the only way I could fully expose your evil side. Let's be honest, would anyone interview someone like you, who’s achieved nothing? You vastly overestimated yourself,” Hannah smirked.

“Enough!” Sarah’s fury overwhelmed her. She’d reached her limit.

“But Manuel knew nothing of my plan. Otherwise, he would have stopped me. That’s all. It’s not worth wasting my time on a loser like you.” Hannah subtly exonerated Oscar.

Suddenly, Hannah screamed. The nearby jailer pulled Sarah away. Sarah had just tried to strangle Hannah. Pain seared Hannah’s neck as she glared at Sarah.

Tears streamed down Sarah’s face as she shouted, “Hannah, what are you so smug about? You’re a loser! Oscar dumped you, even though you're pregnant. You’re stuck, and you come here to humiliate me? How shameless! At least I’m a Collins. Even if the public hates me, I still live in privilege.”

“That’s why you’re so stupid. Your father disowned you. He didn't hesitate to abandon you. You still have Lillian. After this, you’ll never catch up to her.”

“Hannah!” Sarah was on the verge of collapse.

“It’s hard to accept, but you need to swallow it. Your sister will be the First Lady, while you’ll end your life in prison.” Hannah turned to leave.

Her mission was complete. Sarah was pushed to the breaking point. That should be enough.

She left the detention center, Sarah's crazed screams and sobs following her.

It was the worst moment of Hannah’s life. Even Charles’ torture hadn’t broken her. But now her tough facade, her pride, were shattered.

True defeat always came with the loss of will.

Sarah's end had come.
