Chapter 823: The End of Sarah
โI know what I said might not convince you, and you may even find it disgusting. But I don't regret it. You have to understand his difficult position; most of the time, he had no choice.โ
Everyone faces difficult moments where they feel powerless. However, she never considered this a justification for forcing a compromise. If she were to sympathize with Oscarโs situation, who would share her burden?
Hannah didnโt hesitate. Staring at Manuel, she asked, โSo what do you want me to do?โ
Was he going to make her publicly confess to setting up Sarah? she wondered.
โSarahโs under detention. Iโll take you to her. Just tell her what you did. Then, those around her will inform Rowan.โ
โOkay.โ
โHannah,โ Manuel said, โeverything will be better.โ
Hannah offered a false smile. She knew his words were empty reassurance.
She followed Manuel to a special detention center, a place designed to maintain some semblance of respect for Sarah.
Sarah was furious, shouting and banging on the door. โLet me out! I committed no crime! How dare you detain me? I did nothing wrong! Youโll regret this!โ Her enraged cries echoed through the grim space.
A pregnant Hannah arrived at the gate. The jailer opened it for her. Sarah was initially irritated, but her expression changed to stunned surprise at Hannahโs appearance. Her face contorted with fury.
โWhat the hell are you doing here? Get out! I donโt want to see you!โ she screamed.
โI donโt want to either,โ Hannah replied frankly, โbut your pathetic display is worth the visit.โ
โHannah!โ Sarah trembled with rage.
โI overestimated you. I thought you were clever, even though Charles fooled you,โ Hannah said sarcastically.
โWhat do you mean?โ Sarahโs jaw tightened.
โI didnโt expect you to be so weak. It took minimal effort to get you detained,โ Hannah sneered.
โWhat do you mean?โ Sarah snarled.
โFine, Iโll be honest. I set you up. Thatโs why you were recorded.โ
Sarah glared. Sheโd believed Oscar was responsible, setting her up before her family entered the business world. Though defeated, she didn't consider it a humiliation; she knew she couldn't compete with Oscar, the man who'd defeated her father. But she never imagined Hannah was behind it all.
Disbelief etched her features. โDonโt lie! I know you wouldnโt!โ
โI wouldnโt have that confidence in myself, but your unexpected stupidity made it easy.โ
โYou!โ
โRose called to complain about your treatment of them and how youโd made the office a horrible place. Regardless of Cooper Groupโs ownership, the staff fought alongside the Coopers for the companyโs success. I couldnโt stand by while you tormented them. So I told Rose to film your worst side.โ
Sarah glared. It had been Rose.
โI also manipulated Kanae into speaking ill of you and comparing you to me. I orchestrated everything. I know what pushes your buttons. Once your pride was hurt, youโd retaliate. But your reaction surprised me. Sarah, I thought youโd learned better manners. I couldnโt believe your foul languageโฆโ
โShut up!โ Sarah shrieked, nearing a complete breakdown.
โI had Kanae threaten you to broaden the impact. It exceeded even my expectations.โ
Sarah's eyes burned, a feeling like she wanted to slit her throat.
โOh, and the magazine interview? I arranged it through Manuel. Thatโs the only way I could fully expose your evil side. Let's be honest, would anyone interview someone like you, whoโs achieved nothing? You vastly overestimated yourself,โ Hannah smirked.
โEnough!โ Sarahโs fury overwhelmed her. Sheโd reached her limit.
โBut Manuel knew nothing of my plan. Otherwise, he would have stopped me. Thatโs all. Itโs not worth wasting my time on a loser like you.โ Hannah subtly exonerated Oscar.
Suddenly, Hannah screamed. The nearby jailer pulled Sarah away. Sarah had just tried to strangle Hannah. Pain seared Hannahโs neck as she glared at Sarah.
Tears streamed down Sarahโs face as she shouted, โHannah, what are you so smug about? Youโre a loser! Oscar dumped you, even though you're pregnant. Youโre stuck, and you come here to humiliate me? How shameless! At least Iโm a Collins. Even if the public hates me, I still live in privilege.โ
โThatโs why youโre so stupid. Your father disowned you. He didn't hesitate to abandon you. You still have Lillian. After this, youโll never catch up to her.โ
โHannah!โ Sarah was on the verge of collapse.
โItโs hard to accept, but you need to swallow it. Your sister will be the First Lady, while youโll end your life in prison.โ Hannah turned to leave.
Her mission was complete. Sarah was pushed to the breaking point. That should be enough.
She left the detention center, Sarah's crazed screams and sobs following her.
It was the worst moment of Hannahโs life. Even Charlesโ torture hadnโt broken her. But now her tough facade, her pride, were shattered.
True defeat always came with the loss of will.
Sarah's end had come.
