Chapter 889: Lillian’s Baby

Lillian’s baby girl was born the night Oscar called Hannah. He texted the news, though he could have spared himself the trouble; the media had already announced the arrival of Oscar Wells’ daughter, sparking national jubilation.

Hannah quietly read the news, Salem waving his arms and kicking his legs beside her, clearly wanting her phone. She chuckled, "You're too young for a phone, little buddy!"

Salem smiled sweetly. Hannah said tenderly, "Do you know you have a baby sister?"

Salem didn't understand, but enjoyed her attention. He waved and kicked his legs excitedly. Hannah stroked his face, saying, "Be good to your sister, no matter what, okay, Sal?"

He smiled brightly. Hannah kissed him, then held him and left the bedroom.

Michelle, doing yoga in the living room, stood as Hannah entered with the baby. "Is Salem awake?"

"Yes. I've fed him, too."

"Okay. I'll shower and play with him," Michelle said.

"I've got him. Finish your yoga first."

"I'm done."

Her love for Salem was evident. After a quick shower, Michelle took over, the little boy murmuring contentedly in her arms, filling her with joy.

"Mum," Hannah said.

"Yes?" Michelle replied, continuing to play with the baby.

"I want to go to the Capital," Hannah stated.

Michelle was shocked. "What are you going to do there?"

"Visit Oscar."

Michelle exclaimed, "Hannah! What are you thinking? Didn't you read the news about Oscar's daughter...?" She stopped abruptly, worried about hurting Hannah's feelings.

Hannah smiled. "I know. That's why I'm going."

Michelle said, "Hannah, my dear, you don't need to humble yourself before Oscar. He's Chief Commander, yes, but he's also Salem's father. He should protect us. Why diminish yourself to please him?"

"I'm not pleasing him. I can't explain everything now," Hannah said. "It's not that bad."

Michelle insisted, "Honestly, I don't want you to belittle yourself. Our family deserves dignity and respect!"

Hannah needed to do this for the family's dignity.

"I'll call Oscar later. I'll probably leave tomorrow. I've stored breast milk. Please warm and feed Salem on time. He takes a bottle; I tried it when I had a cold."

"I'm not worried about Salem," Michelle said. He was a sweet angel who ate and slept well.

"I'm worried about you..."

Hannah held Michelle's arm. "Don't worry, Mum. I'll take care of myself. I'll be back in two days, at most."

"Okay. I've got your back if you've made up your mind. You're a grown woman, a mother. No matter what, don't wrong yourself."

"Mum, I love you so much."

Michelle smiled indulgently. "I know. But you're giving me goosebumps."

After some more conversation, Hannah went to the garden and called Oscar.

"Hannah," Oscar said, sounding tired.

"Did I wake you?"

"Nah. It's okay." His voice cleared.

Hannah, knowing Lillian gave birth at 1 AM, asked, "Were you up all night?"

"Pretty much," he admitted.

"Still at the hospital?"

"Yep."

"Can I see the baby?" Hannah asked.

Oscar seemed surprised.

Hannah explained, "It's Cian's baby. I want to see her. After all, Cian died for me. It's okay if it's not a good time."

"I'll arrange it," Oscar agreed.

"No rush. I can go tomorrow. You and Lillian must be exhausted. Rest. I'll come see the baby tomorrow."

"Okay."

"Get some sleep."

"Will Salem come with you?"

"No. He's too young to fly. Mother will watch him. I'll be back soon."

"Okay."

"Get back to sleep. Bye!"

"Bye..."

Hannah hung up and smiled coldly. It was time to give Lillian a taste of her own medicine. She'd never considered reconciliation.

Theodore called the next day, offering to drive her to the Capital. Oscar, ever efficient, ensured her departure remained private. Her arrival was a deliberate challenge to Oscar; she was, after all, his mistress, not someone to be seen publicly with him.

Theodore collected her. Hannah remained quiet in the car.

"Why the sudden trip to the Capital?" Theodore asked.

"Didn't Oscar tell you?"

"He only said to keep you safe."

Hannah said honestly, "I'm going to see Cian's baby."

Theodore, perhaps remembering Hannah's earlier harshness towards Lillian, simply said, "Good for you."

Hannah smiled faintly. "He saved my life. I won't forget that."

"So please, don't push Oscar again. He has no choice."

"Okay," Hannah smiled and nodded.

Theodore didn't doubt her; he knew her to be reasonable. He'd urged Oscar to tell her the truth sooner, believing she would understand. Had Oscar done so earlier, much hurt could have been avoided. With the misunderstanding cleared, they could move forward. Hannah with Oscar, and Cian's child safe and secure—a happy ending.
