Chapter 892: Stay Overnight
Lillian's face flushed crimson as Hannah finished speaking. Was Hannah planning to spend the night with Oscar? Though Lillian knew Oscar frequently spent time with Hannah and that they weren't likely to be intimate yet, hearing it firsthand felt entirely different. Hannah was clearly provoking her.
"Can I?" Hannah asked Oscar, seemingly oblivious to Lillian's simmering anger. Oscar nodded. "Okay, I'll be with you."
"No, it's still early. Spend a few more hours here before returning. I'll ask Theodore for a ride," Hannah said. "According to Mrs. Wells, you've been tending to the baby. I bet the baby would like you to stay, too. Just come back later. I'll be waiting at your place."
Lillian gritted her teeth. Hannah was deliberately goading her. Oscar agreed, offering to walk Hannah to the gate. Hand in hand, they walked past Lillian, their departure igniting her fury. She couldn't believe Hannah's audacity.
Max entered the room just as Lillian's rage erupted, startling him with her initial glare. Instantly regaining composure, Lillian plastered on a pleasant smile. "Max?" she asked smoothly, masking the barely suppressed hatred of moments before.
Max, stunned, wondered if heโd imagined her outburst. He quickly explained, "The doctor recommends a light diet. Madam, any special requests for dinner?"
"I'm fine with whatever you prepare. Everything tastes good," Lillian replied politely.
Max bowed respectfully and left. As soon as he was gone, Lillian's rage returned, a barely contained storm. She realized Hannah's provocation had nearly exposed her true feelings.
Outside, Hannah told Oscar, "Alright, I'll be waiting for you." He nodded, and after a tender kiss, she released his hand.
"You must be exhausted these days," she said softly.
Oscar felt choked with emotion. "To me, Cian's daughter is no different from my son. I appreciate you taking care of the baby," he murmured, touched. Hannah then left with Theodore.
Theodore, witnessing their intimacy, was surprised by Hannah's generosity. Heโd expected resentment, given her circumstances. Sitting in the car, he commented, "No wonder Oscar's so obsessed. You're amazing."
Hannah smiled faintly. She never aspired to greatness and suspected Theodore might resent her future actions. "Theodore, could you get some groceries for me? I'm new here, and I don't want the paparazzi to cause trouble for Oscar."
"Are you making dinner for Oscar?" he asked.
"Yes, I want to try," she replied, a smile playing on her lips.
"He'll be ecstatic," Theodore chuckled, imagining Oscar's delight. Hannah smiled shyly, her plan unfolding: to entice Oscar's return while using Theodore as a go-between, and to subtly remind Lillian of her continued connection with Oscar.
Theodore readily agreed to fetch the groceries. He felt relieved; his earlier concerns about Oscar's obsession seemed less pressing.
Hannah arrived at Oscar's heavily guarded home in the Capital, even more secure than her own residence in Kensbury. After a stroll in the garden, Theodore returned with the groceries, then left to take the day off, leaving the cook to help Hannah prepare dinner, which was her plan. However, since the cook left, she had to cook alone, downloading a recipe app to help.
Disaster struck. Hannah soon found herself in a chaotic mess of burnt food and sizzling oil. Oscar arrived home to find her desperately trying to salvage the meal.
He couldn't help but smile at her clumsiness. It had been a long time since heโd seen her so carefree. He enveloped her in a hug, taking over the cooking.
"Every time I try to cook, I failโฆ" she lamented, frustrated.
"That's why I'm here," Oscar murmured huskily.
Though momentarily touched, her frustration resurfaced, then she stood behind him watching him cook and finish the meal.
They dined together in a warm atmosphere. "I never expected you to stay overnight. What a surprise," Oscar said.
"You don't want me to?" Hannah asked playfully.
"It's my dream," he replied.
Hannah smiled knowingly. "I can tell how restrained you are around my mother. That's why I'm here," she explained. Oscar hesitated, understanding her subtle message.
Hannah then offered him some soup with a knowing smile. "You have to finish this. It's a special recipe from Theodore."
"What?" Oscar asked, confused.
"It'll turn you on," she whispered mischievously. He was taken aback, mentally cursing Theodore. Meanwhile, Theodore was enjoying himself elsewhere, vaguely sensing someone's disapproval.
