Chapter 894: Lillian’s Tricks

Oscar remained unresponsive, phone in hand. Theodore didn't know how to persuade him. Hannah hadn't mentioned visiting the capital beforehand; Oscar clearly wanted to spend more time with her that night. Theodore sensed Oscar had recently satisfied his desires with Hannah and they were reluctant to separate.

"Where are you?" Oscar finally asked, some time later.

"I'm on my way to your house!" Theodore retorted, sounding angry. He hadn't had time to satisfy his own desires. He'd felt a surge of anger while dressing just minutes before.

"Come pick me up," Oscar said.

"Are you sure you have to go to the hospital?" Theodore asked.

"Mhm."

"But what about Hannah?" Theodore asked worriedly.

"She'll understand," Oscar replied.

"Alright, I'll be there in ten minutes."

"Mhm."

After hanging up, a vengeful glint crossed Oscar's eyes. He gently closed the French window, then went to the bed where Hannah slept soundly. Under the lamplight, her sleeping face looked beautiful and innocent. He couldn't resist kissing her lips.

Hannah stirred, then slowly opened her eyes.

"Did I wake you?" Oscar asked softly.

"I was waiting for you, but I fell asleep," Hannah smiled. "Have you finished your call? Is something urgent?"

Hesitantly, he told the truth, "Lillian said the baby's crying. I need to check."

"Is the baby sick?" Hannah asked nervously.

"I don't know. That's why I need to go."

"Alright, go then," Hannah said urgently.

A flicker of upset crossed his eyes. Hannah smiled. "Don't worry. I'm not jealous of a baby. After all, I owe Cian's life. His baby is just as important to me as mine. Of course I'll worry about the baby."

"I'll be back as soon as possible," Oscar promised.

Hannah nodded, though she knew his promise meant little. She knew Lillian would do anything to keep him there.

"Just get back to sleep. You must be exhausted," Oscar kissed her again.

"Okay," she nodded, closing her eyes.

After watching her for a while, he dressed and left. A deadly silence descended.

Hannah opened her eyes, looking around the unfamiliar room. She vowed this humiliating life would end one day.

While driving Oscar to the hospital, Theodore asked, "Is Hannah mad at you?"

"No." She wasn't angry anymore; she no longer held any expectations of him.

"Well, did you satisfy your lust?" Theodore asked with a teasing smile.

"Yeah."

"And did you like what I prepared for you?" Theodore teased again.

Oscar glanced at him but didn't respond.

"You've satisfied your lust, but I haven't! It's driving me crazy!" Theodore exclaimed, overwhelmed by his desire.

"Theodore, you need to learn to be domesticated," Oscar suddenly said.

"What?" Theodore looked confused.

"Stop being a playboy. Learn to be a responsible husband to Little Bunny."

"Don't lecture me like my old man. I'm different from you and Manuel. I want a different life. I don't think I can truly fall in love. I can't give up those sexy girls for Little Bunny. To be honest, if you and Manuel lived like me, free and careless, you wouldn't suffer so much in relationships," Theodore dismissed his advice.

"Don't regret your choice."

"Never. Nothing will make me regret except maybe women," Theodore insisted.

Oscar fell silent, unwilling to continue. Soon, they arrived at the hospital.

They heard the baby crying as soon as they entered the suite. Lillian, holding the baby, paced nervously, her eyes tearful.

"Oscar," she cried, "the baby's been crying. I don't know what to do. I've carried her all night, but she won't stop. I've breastfed her and changed her diaper."

Oscar took the baby. "Let me handle it."

Lillian's eyes remained filled with tears, fixed anxiously on the baby, who continued to cry in Oscar's arms. He tried to soothe her, then laid her on the nursery table to check her clothes. He unbuttoned her top and found a hard label tag inside, severely scratching her back.

Oscar asked sternly, "Don't you see her top is on inside out?"

"What?" Lillian looked surprised.

"The label should be on the outside! Who changed her?" Oscar asked seriously. It was clearly someone unprofessional.

"It was me…" Lillian stammered.

Oscar looked at her.

"I don't know. I just tried to tend to the baby. After she spat up milk, I changed her. I thought the label should be inside, like an adult's shirt… I didn't know…" Tears welled up in her eyes again. She looked genuinely remorseful.

Oscar didn't rebuke her, though he looked displeased. He quickly changed the baby, and she stopped crying, sobbing only briefly before slumping into his arms to sleep. Once she seemed soundly asleep, he placed her in the crib.

After a short while, she mustered the courage to apologize, "Oscar, I'm sorry…"

"Just be more careful next time," Oscar said, without looking at her.

Though outwardly frustrated, she was inwardly delighted. It had been part of her plan – putting the baby's top on inside out to make her cry and lure Oscar away from Hannah. She imagined Hannah's anger.

Then, she noticed a hickey on Oscar's neck, and found it intensely irritating.
