Chapter 911: Lillian's Breakdown

"Suddenly, I miss him terribly," Lillian said, her voice strained. She glanced at Una, her eyes lingering on the child's resemblance to Cian. "Seeing how much Una looks like himโ€ฆ it makes me want it even more," she added sadly.

Oscar remained silent.

"Forget it if it's inconvenient," Lillian said thoughtfully. "You've had a long day, and you have to work tomorrow."

"Let's drink," Oscar offered lightly.

Lillian felt a surge of inner joy. She knew mentioning Cian would soften Oscar's resolve.

They walked to the garden gazebo of the old castle, enjoying the city's aesthetic nighttime view and neon lights, with exquisite snacks and drinks served. Lillian poured wine for them both.

"Time flies," Lillian began. "Cian has been gone a year."

Oscar sipped his wine, his spirits low as he thought of Cian. "I remember his face," Lillian continued. "When he smiled, he was such a carefree boy. If I hadn't learned later he was your brother, the heir to the Wells family, I would have thought he came from an ordinary, privileged background. There was always such purity and kindness in his eyes. How nice it would have been if he had been born into an ordinary familyโ€ฆ"

Her voice choked with emotion. Oscar watched her silently, sipping his wine.

A thought struck Lillian. Is drunken sex possible? she wondered, a thrill of excitement running through her. If anything happens, alcohol will be to blame.

She drank liberally. As the night deepened, Lillian noticed Oscar leaning back, seemingly drowsy.

"Oscar," she called.

He didn't respond.

"Oscar, you're drunk. I'll help you to your room," she said.

Still unresponsive, Oscar seemed to consent when he glanced at her as she carefully lifted him. Suppressing her elation, she guided him step by step to her bedroom, laying him on her bed.

He lay motionless. Approaching cautiously, Lillian felt a thrill at being so close to a man who usually kept her at arm's length. She leaned over, her hands trembling slightly as she began to unbutton his shirt. Her gaze was fixed on his compelling faceโ€”more handsome than Cian, she thought, possessing a mature charm that was undeniably attractive. It explained the instant attraction she'd felt, even while secretly dating Cian.

She undid his shirt, revealing firm muscles beneath. Her throat tightened. Then, an idea struck her: she could get back at Hannah. She took a picture of the sleeping Oscar and sent it to Hannah.

Hannah received the message, saw the picture of the naked Oscar on Lillian's bed, and felt a complex mix of emotions. It wasn't entirely surprising; she'd expected this to happen eventually. As a couple, she reasoned, feelings would naturally develop.

As she was about to close the app, the picture was withdrawn. Lillian was clever enough to remove all evidence. Hannah chuckled and dismissed the message.

Lillian put away her phone and moved closer. But as she did, Oscar's eyes snapped open. He seemed completely sober, startling Lillian. Before she could react, he was already sitting up.

"Oscar," Lillian said, grabbing his arm.

He shrugged her off.

"Oscar," she tried again, throwing her arms around him from behind. She held him tightly.

He frowned. Desperate, Lillian decided to take a risk. She wasn't willing to let him leave.

"I know I may be selfish, but I really want Una to have a complete family. You treat Una so well; I believe you'd be the best father. I want to build a real family with you, for Una."

Her body trembled, fear mingling with excitement.

"Oscar," she pleaded, receiving no response. "I won't tell Hannah."

The name spurred Oscar into action. He shoved her away violently, sending her sprawling to the floor. She looked up at him, her gaze filled with bitter hatred.

Without looking back, he said, "I'll give Una my best. You don't need to make any sacrifices."

"It's not a sacrifice," Lillian insisted, her voice tight with emotion.

"I don't want to compromise myself," Oscar said flatly.

Tears welled in Lillian's eyes. In his eyes, she was unworthy. A burning anger consumed her.

"What happened tonight, I don't want it to happen again!" He left her alone in the room.

Blind with rage, she thought, Since you're so heartless, don't blame me for being ruthless. She dialed her father's number.

"It's late," Rowan said, concerned.

"Deal with Oscar," she commanded. "I'll cooperate fully."

Rowan was stunned, then a wicked smile spread across his face. "I understand."

"The sooner, the better," Lillian said fiercely.

After the call, Lillian gripped her phone tightly. She swore she would make Oscar regret this humiliation, this unbearable betrayal.
