Chapter 928: The Outbreak of War (4) Lillian Commits Suicide
Lillian glared fiercely at the person blocking her path. "Get out of my way!" she roared.
No one moved. Gritting her teeth, Lillian pushed, but they remained unyielding. Annoyed, she turned to Rowan. "Father!"
"Take her back to her room!" Rowan coldly ordered, not even glancing at her.
"I'd rather die!" Lillian retorted.
Rowan laughed. "Do you think threatening me will work? I only care about your relationship with Oscar and that you bore Una. What use are you otherwise?" He tore off his mask, revealing his true feelings.
Lillian stared in disbelief. She never imagined he would speak to her like this.
"Leave, then. Die outside," Rowan said, stepping closer. His venomous words chilled her with fear and disgust. She had betrayed Oscar to protect her father and family; now, this was her reward.
"But Una stays," Rowan said, reaching for Una.
"Don't touch Una!" Lillian screamed, shielding her daughter. Una cried at the sudden outburst.
Rowan's face hardened. Two bodyguards rushed forward, forcibly snatching Una from Lillian's arms. Una's cries intensified.
"Give me back my daughter!" Lillian shrieked.
"Shut up!" Rowan snapped. "You and your child are pawns! My cooperation with Oscar was strategic, not sentimental."
Lillian trembled with rage. The father she'd loved had used her, revealed his cruel nature.
"You're useless now. Do you understand what matters in this family? Obey, and you'll enjoy wealth and status. Oppose me, and your death will be ugly!" Rowan sneered.
Lillian couldn't believe her father's words.
"Let me be clear," Rowan said viciously. "I never intended for Una to live."
Lillian recoiled. Sheโd almost believed his earlier words were born of anger, but this chilled her to the core.
"What did you say?" she asked, her voice barely a whisper.
"Una, as a Wells, is to be eradicated."
"Are you crazy? She's my daughter! How could you harm her? She's so young!"
"Her youth makes it easier."
"Enough!" Lillian cried, overwhelmed by regretโbetraying Oscar, endangering Una. Tears blurred her vision as she saw the cruelty in Rowan's eyes. "You can't hurt Unaโฆ"
"Whether I do is my business." Rowan sneered, ordering his men, "Take her back to her room!"
"I won'tโ" Lillian screamed as the guards shackled her. They dragged her away, her desperate cries echoing through the hall as Una wept helplessly.
Lillian was locked in her room. "Give her sleeping pills; too noisy," Rowan said emotionlessly.
Later, Mathew suggested killing Una, but Rowan refused, planning to act after Oscar's death. Mathew, witnessing his father's cruelty, understood his precarious position.
Meanwhile, Oscar informed Theodore that Una was with the Collins family, explaining that Rowan wouldn't act until he saw Oscar's body. Their plan was to attack in ten minutes.
Rowan, anticipating Oscar's arrival and his demise, smiled cruelly. Then, a guard burst in.
"Mr. Collins! Lillianโฆshe cut her wrists! Suicide!"
Rowan's face darkened. He followed the guard, finding Lillian weakened, struggling against the guards' grip, blood staining the room.
"Father, please, let Una and me go," Lillian pleaded.
