Chapter 945: Because of Love
Lillian remained silent, assessing Hannah.
โIf Oscar cares about Una, and she grows up with him, sheโll be the happiest child, envied by thousands. Sheโll have everything.โ
โYou said, provided Oscar cares about Una!โ Lillian sneered coldly. She no longer trusted him.
โThatโs why I said it can be verified,โ Hannah insisted. โLet Oscar choose between me and Una. Then youโll know how important Una is to him.โ
Lillian hesitated.
โIf Oscar dares to come here alone, it means he cares about someone on the yacht. Whether itโs me or Una, youโll see, right?โ Hannah pressed.
โItโs something like that,โ Lillian conceded. Otherwise, there was no reason for Oscar to risk his life, given he could easily kill them all.
โOscar cares about either me or Una, right?โ Hannah continued.
A grim look crossed Lillianโs face; she knew Oscar had never loved her.
โLet him choose. If he chooses me, you detonate the bomb, and we all die together!โ Hannah paused. โWeโll all die with you, including Oscar, the man you hate most.โ
Lillian looked at Hannah with newfound admiration. How could she have thought of this? Hannah had almost convinced her.
โIf Oscar chooses Una, Iโll die with you,โ Hannah declared, her eyes unwavering. โYou no longer desire to live. If you believe Oscar will kill youโand the rest of your Collins familyโafter saving someone he cares for, then dying isn't a loss; you take another with you in retaliation.โ
The proposal resonated with Lillian.
โIf Oscar chooses Una, it means heโd sacrifice himself for her. Will you still worry about her upbringing? You give Una a chance to live and exact revenge for Oscarโs cruelty. Two birds, one stone.โ
Lillian felt conflicted. โWhy go this far? No matter what Oscar chooses, you die! Is this because Una is Cianโs daughter? Because Cian saved your life? Hannah, youโre too honest!โ
โNot just that,โ Hannah admitted. โIf I donโt die, Oscar will. Youโll drag him down. If I die, there might still be a chance for him.โ She spoke calmly, as if discussing the weather.
Lillian laughed.
โHannah, Oscar hurt you so badly, yet you want him alive. How much do you love him?โ
โVery much,โ Hannah replied. โIโve suffered no less than you, and Iโm not more naive. Even if we canโt be together again, heโs the person Iโve loved most.โ
โNo wonder,โ Lillian whispered, tears streaming down her face. โNo wonder Oscar loves you so much. Iโve known him for ages, and his eyes are always cold when he looks at me. But when he sees youโฆ heโs a different person! I wonโt hide anything anymore.โ
Hannah didnโt want to hear more; sometimes, knowing too much breeds regret. But she didnโt stop Lillian.
โI never slept with Oscar,โ Lillian sneered. Sheโd lived with him and tried everything, but nothing happened.
Hannah was surprised.
โThe photo you sent meโฆโ
โThe next second, he woke up and pushed me away,โ Lillian gritted her teeth.
Hannah pursed her lips. Sheโd assumed Oscar, even if just playing games, would have slept with Lillian.
โThe night before the accident, I wanted to sleep with him. He said heโd wait until we got back. I thought he was being truthful. Later, I found out he was lying.โ Lillianโs emotions surged again.
Hannah watched her warily, fearing drastic action that would ruin their negotiations.
โI wanted to believe Oscar was cruel, ruthless, and didnโt like you. But I was deceiving myself!โ Tears streamed down Lillianโs face. โOscar loves you!โ
โSo you can use this love for revenge!โ Hannah retorted. โDeath isnโt ultimate revenge. Making someone wish they were dead is.โ
โDo you think Oscar will die for love? Will he choose to die with you?โ Lillian sobbed.
โNo, because he has Una,โ Hannah answered confidently.
Lillian didnโt believe Una was that important, yet Hannahโs words held sway.
โHe has his family legacy. He canโt let it go,โ Hannah stated.
โHannah, I admire your understanding of Oscar! Is it your intelligence or the depth of your love?โ
โMaybe itโs because Iโve died once,โ Hannah replied calmly.
Lillian frowned, not understanding.
Suddenly, a voice boomed across the sea, โLillian, itโs Oscar.โ
Oscar had arrived, just as Hannah predicted.
