Chapter 945: Because of Love

Lillian remained silent, assessing Hannah.

โ€œIf Oscar cares about Una, and she grows up with him, sheโ€™ll be the happiest child, envied by thousands. Sheโ€™ll have everything.โ€

โ€œYou said, provided Oscar cares about Una!โ€ Lillian sneered coldly. She no longer trusted him.

โ€œThatโ€™s why I said it can be verified,โ€ Hannah insisted. โ€œLet Oscar choose between me and Una. Then youโ€™ll know how important Una is to him.โ€

Lillian hesitated.

โ€œIf Oscar dares to come here alone, it means he cares about someone on the yacht. Whether itโ€™s me or Una, youโ€™ll see, right?โ€ Hannah pressed.

โ€œItโ€™s something like that,โ€ Lillian conceded. Otherwise, there was no reason for Oscar to risk his life, given he could easily kill them all.

โ€œOscar cares about either me or Una, right?โ€ Hannah continued.

A grim look crossed Lillianโ€™s face; she knew Oscar had never loved her.

โ€œLet him choose. If he chooses me, you detonate the bomb, and we all die together!โ€ Hannah paused. โ€œWeโ€™ll all die with you, including Oscar, the man you hate most.โ€

Lillian looked at Hannah with newfound admiration. How could she have thought of this? Hannah had almost convinced her.

โ€œIf Oscar chooses Una, Iโ€™ll die with you,โ€ Hannah declared, her eyes unwavering. โ€œYou no longer desire to live. If you believe Oscar will kill youโ€”and the rest of your Collins familyโ€”after saving someone he cares for, then dying isn't a loss; you take another with you in retaliation.โ€

The proposal resonated with Lillian.

โ€œIf Oscar chooses Una, it means heโ€™d sacrifice himself for her. Will you still worry about her upbringing? You give Una a chance to live and exact revenge for Oscarโ€™s cruelty. Two birds, one stone.โ€

Lillian felt conflicted. โ€œWhy go this far? No matter what Oscar chooses, you die! Is this because Una is Cianโ€™s daughter? Because Cian saved your life? Hannah, youโ€™re too honest!โ€

โ€œNot just that,โ€ Hannah admitted. โ€œIf I donโ€™t die, Oscar will. Youโ€™ll drag him down. If I die, there might still be a chance for him.โ€ She spoke calmly, as if discussing the weather.

Lillian laughed.

โ€œHannah, Oscar hurt you so badly, yet you want him alive. How much do you love him?โ€

โ€œVery much,โ€ Hannah replied. โ€œIโ€™ve suffered no less than you, and Iโ€™m not more naive. Even if we canโ€™t be together again, heโ€™s the person Iโ€™ve loved most.โ€

โ€œNo wonder,โ€ Lillian whispered, tears streaming down her face. โ€œNo wonder Oscar loves you so much. Iโ€™ve known him for ages, and his eyes are always cold when he looks at me. But when he sees youโ€ฆ heโ€™s a different person! I wonโ€™t hide anything anymore.โ€

Hannah didnโ€™t want to hear more; sometimes, knowing too much breeds regret. But she didnโ€™t stop Lillian.

โ€œI never slept with Oscar,โ€ Lillian sneered. Sheโ€™d lived with him and tried everything, but nothing happened.

Hannah was surprised.

โ€œThe photo you sent meโ€ฆโ€

โ€œThe next second, he woke up and pushed me away,โ€ Lillian gritted her teeth.

Hannah pursed her lips. Sheโ€™d assumed Oscar, even if just playing games, would have slept with Lillian.

โ€œThe night before the accident, I wanted to sleep with him. He said heโ€™d wait until we got back. I thought he was being truthful. Later, I found out he was lying.โ€ Lillianโ€™s emotions surged again.

Hannah watched her warily, fearing drastic action that would ruin their negotiations.

โ€œI wanted to believe Oscar was cruel, ruthless, and didnโ€™t like you. But I was deceiving myself!โ€ Tears streamed down Lillianโ€™s face. โ€œOscar loves you!โ€

โ€œSo you can use this love for revenge!โ€ Hannah retorted. โ€œDeath isnโ€™t ultimate revenge. Making someone wish they were dead is.โ€

โ€œDo you think Oscar will die for love? Will he choose to die with you?โ€ Lillian sobbed.

โ€œNo, because he has Una,โ€ Hannah answered confidently.

Lillian didnโ€™t believe Una was that important, yet Hannahโ€™s words held sway.

โ€œHe has his family legacy. He canโ€™t let it go,โ€ Hannah stated.

โ€œHannah, I admire your understanding of Oscar! Is it your intelligence or the depth of your love?โ€

โ€œMaybe itโ€™s because Iโ€™ve died once,โ€ Hannah replied calmly.

Lillian frowned, not understanding.

Suddenly, a voice boomed across the sea, โ€œLillian, itโ€™s Oscar.โ€

Oscar had arrived, just as Hannah predicted.
