Chapter 953: Meeting Little Bunny Again

Susan rarely spoke well of Oscar, but concerning their children, she couldn't bring herself to speak ill of him. He was genuinely good to Salem and Una, showering them with love. Besides his work, they were his world.

Under Susan's care, the children's spirits lifted considerably. They enjoyed a delightful meal together, filled with laughter and joy.

"Auntie, can we go out more often?" Una asked, her large eyes full of anticipation.

Susan wanted to, but Manuel's permission was uncertain. "I'll try my best," she replied, reluctant to disappoint them.

Una's bright smile was hard to resist. Privately, Susan didn't particularly like Una, but she found herself stroking the girl's head affectionately.

After lunch, as they left their private dining room, Susan saw a woman who looked strangely familiar. She paused, then abruptly turned, tears unexpectedly welling in her eyes. Without hesitation, she hurried towards the woman with the children.

"Auntie, you can't run!" Salem called, worried about her leaving, especially without Manuel.

Susan quickly caught up. Before she could correct her mistake, the woman turned, making Susan's throat tighten. Dismissing the possibility of a miracle, she told herself it was a case of mistaken identity.

The woman smiled slightly. "Are you looking for me?"

Susan shook her head. "I mistook you for someone else."

The woman's smile was lovely, yet unfamiliar. Despite the similar backs, her face was unknown.

"You have such cute children," the woman said kindly.

"Thank you," Susan replied, her voice sounding unusual.

It was just another similar backโ€”almost identical from behind. The woman smiled faintly and left. Susan watched her go, still hoping for a miracle.

"What's wrong, Auntie?" Salem asked, puzzled; Susan rarely cried in front of them.

Susan composed herself, wiping away her tears. "Nothing, just a piece of grit in my eye."

"That's how they always do it on TV," Una observed bluntly.

Susan sighed, unwilling to burden the children. "Let's go watch a cartoon," she suggested.

"Yay!" The children cheered as Susan led them away.

As they left, the woman watched them go.

"Besse, what's wrong?" A man blocked Besse's view.

"Nothing," she replied casually.

"The press conference is in a week; Doyle insists you appear. Please don't stand him up again!" he said anxiously.

"I'll try my best," Besse replied indifferently.

"Missy, please don't make things difficult! If you stand him up, he'll drive me crazy!" he pleaded.

Besse didn't respond, gazing out at the bustling, unfamiliar city below.

Meanwhile, Susan took Salem and Una to see a cartoon. Leaving the cinema, they encountered the event organizers, cartoon characters, and voice actors interacting with children.

"That's Little Bunny!" Una exclaimed. "I love Little Bunny! She's the voice of that cute rabbit!"

Susan recognized Little Bunny, surprised such a celebrity would attend. She knew Little Bunny's dedication to her work, explaining her popularity over the past four years.

Children eagerly asked questions and took photos. Una wanted to join, but Susan, aware of the potential dangers, stopped her. Una, thankfully, obeyed.

As they left, Susan's phone rang. "Little Bunny," she answered.

"I just saw you," the voice said.

"From that far away?"

"I saw the Commander's kids, too."

"Yes, Una Wells wants your autograph," Susan joked.

"Okay, I'll get one for her next time."

"Thanks."

"Are you free for dinner? It's rare Mr. Johnson lets you come to The Capital."

Susan hesitated. Manuel's control was well-known, even to Little Bunny. They'd had considerable contact; Little Bunny endorsed products for Phillips Bank. Susan had secretly supported Little Bunny's career early on, a fact likely known within the industry, resulting in a quiet gratitude from Little Bunny.

"I'm sorry, tonight won't work," Susan said regretfully. "Manuel will likely take me back to Kensbury City soon."

"It's okay," Little Bunny replied understandingly.

"We can get together when you're back in Kensbury City."

"Sure." Then, "Oh! Karami is having a product launch in Northfield next week. I have two tickets if you want them. You seem to like the brand."

Susan hesitated, unsure if Manuel would allow it.
