Chapter 361

Dane

I rushed into the room, a bowl of soup in my hands, only to freeze. Aurora lay unconscious on the floor. My heart sank. โ€œAurora!โ€ I shouted, dropping the soup and rushing to her.

I knelt, gently lifting her limp body and placing her head on my lap. My hands trembled as I touched her pale cheek, my voice breaking as I called out, โ€œAurora! Babe, wake up! Please!โ€

Her eyes remained closed, her body unresponsive. Panic seized me. I quickly rose, scooped her into my arms, and bolted from the room, heading for the doctorโ€™s office in the pack house.

โ€œDoctor!โ€ I bellowed, approaching with Aurora cradled against my chest. The door was locked. โ€œDammit!โ€ I cursed, kicking the door in frustration. โ€œWhy the hell is this locked?โ€ Growling, I sprinted toward the hospital in the pack village, desperate for help.

As I ran through the streets, people watched, their expressions shifting from curiosity to concern. โ€œOut of my way!โ€ I thundered, barreling through the marketplace. The bustling atmosphere fell silent, the crowd parting to let me pass.

Ahead, the hospital came into viewโ€”a structure Iโ€™d built for the pack, along with schools and improved roads. But none of that mattered. All that mattered was Aurora. The thought of life without her was unbearable.

โ€œDoctor!โ€ I roared, bursting through the hospital doors. Nurses snapped into action, rushing toward me with a stretcher. I carefully laid Aurora on it, my hands lingering on her as they pushed her toward the treatment room. A nurse barked instructions, sending another to fetch the doctor.

I kept pace, clutching her hand tightly, my thumb brushing her knuckles. โ€œAuroraโ€ฆ please, open your eyes,โ€ I whispered, my voice cracking. โ€œJust blink. Just show me youโ€™re okay. Please, babeโ€ฆโ€

When we reached the ward, the doctor awaited. The nurses wheeled Aurora inside, and as I tried to follow, her hand slipped from mine. โ€œWait here, Alpha Dane,โ€ the doctor said, holding me back.

โ€œWHAT?!โ€ I snapped, my voice a deep growl.

โ€œI need to know what happened to her first,โ€ he explained cautiously.

I rubbed my temples, trying to control my temper. Frustration consumed me. โ€œShe wasnโ€™t feeling well earlier,โ€ I said, my words rushed. โ€œShe vomited and felt cold, so I let her rest. When I went to get her soup, I found her unconscious.โ€

The doctor nodded thoughtfully. โ€œI understand. Please take a seat while Iโ€”โ€

โ€œForget it,โ€ I cut him off, my glare sharp. โ€œIโ€™m coming in with you. Thatโ€™s final.โ€

He hesitated, then sighed. โ€œAlright, come in.โ€

I didnโ€™t wait for permission. I followed them into the room, rushing to Auroraโ€™s bedside. I grabbed her hand and kissed it, pressing it against my cheek.

โ€œIโ€™m here now, baby,โ€ I murmured, my voice raw with emotion. โ€œIโ€™m here. I wonโ€™t leave you.โ€

Looking up, I locked eyes with the doctor. โ€œDo something. Wake her up already.โ€

The doctor nodded, beginning his work, while I closed my eyes and clasped my hands together, holding Auroraโ€™s between them.

โ€œGoddess,โ€ I whispered hoarsely, my head bowed. โ€œI know I donโ€™t come to you oftenโ€ฆ but Aurora is your chosen. Sheโ€™s your faithful worshipper. Please, save her. Save her for me. Pleaseโ€ฆโ€

I wasnโ€™t sure how long I prayed, but the sound of her voice snapped me out of my desperation. โ€œDaneโ€ฆโ€

My eyes flew open. Auroraโ€™s eyes, barely open, stared back at me with a weak smile. Relief flooded me, though my heart ached at how pale and fragile she looked.

I cupped her face gently, my thumb brushing her cheek. โ€œBabe,โ€ I breathed, kissing her forehead and then her lips. โ€œThank the goddess youโ€™re conscious. How do you feel?โ€

โ€œIโ€™m okay,โ€ she replied softly, her voice dry. โ€œWhy do you worry so much over nothing?โ€

I frowned, leaning in to kiss her lips again. โ€œNothing? How can I not worry when you say youโ€™re fine in that tone? Do you even realize how you look right now?โ€

She sighed, her eyelids fluttering. โ€œThis will pass soonโ€ฆ Iโ€™ll be fine.โ€ Glancing around, she asked, โ€œWhere am I? This doesnโ€™t look like the pack doctorโ€™s office.โ€

โ€œThis is the general hospital,โ€ I explained. โ€œThe doctorโ€™s office was locked, so I brought you here instead.โ€

โ€œOh,โ€ she murmured, her expression softening. โ€œYou didnโ€™t have to go through so much trouble for me.โ€

The doctor cleared his throat, drawing my attention. โ€œAlpha Dane, may I have a word in my office?โ€

I nodded, leaning down to kiss Auroraโ€™s forehead again. โ€œRest, my love. Iโ€™ll be right back.โ€ Turning to the nurse, I ordered, โ€œTake care of her.โ€ The nurse nodded in acknowledgment.

I followed the doctor to his office, where he gestured for me to sit.

โ€œJust tell me,โ€ I said, leaning over his desk, my hands planted firmly on it. โ€œWhatโ€™s wrong with her?โ€

The doctor folded his hands, his expression calm but serious. โ€œLuna Aurora is fine, Alpha Dane, but from now on, she needs plenty of rest and care.โ€

My brows furrowed in confusion. โ€œWhat are you saying? Whatโ€™s going on with her?โ€

The doctorโ€™s lips curved into a smile. โ€œCongratulations, Alpha Dane. Luna Aurora is three weeks pregnant.โ€

The words hit me like a bolt of lightning. I staggered back, gripping the chair for support. โ€œPregnant? With a baby?โ€

The doctor chuckled. โ€œYes, Alpha. Congratulations. Another baby is on the way.โ€
