Chapter 51 ARCHER
Auroraโs bodyguard and I fell deep into the darkness. The landing hurt like hell, but we both got up. I dusted myself off, talked to Dane, then looked at him.
โThey want us to find a way out and meet them upstairs.โ
โIs Aurora all right?โ Trajan asked.
โYeah. Sheโs fine. Sheโs with the Alpha.โ
Trajan just looked at me with a flat stare. โThat doesnโt mean anything for her well-being.โ
I growled, my hackles rising at the implied insult. But then, he was right. Back when Aurora had been Ann, Dane hadnโt treated her well, and neither had most of us. How could we, when her pack had killed most of ours? When her parents had killed Daneโs? When the Council declared they had to stay married, it was like weโd all been told to drink poison and like it.
Most of the pack was not glad sheโd returned. Then again, most of the pack wasnโt the biggest fan of Evelyn, either. They saw her as stupid and shallow, and there was nothing I could do to correct them. If I did, we risked people seeing through us.
