Chapter 107
The security guards and employees stood frozen, stunned by the audacity of anyone storming into Nelson's office, given his position at the bank. Christina felt a chill run down her spine, wondering why Andrew had escalated the situation given their disadvantage in numbers.
"What are you idiots waiting for? Get them!" Nelson screamed from the floor, his rage exploding. Since becoming bank manager, he'd never faced such humiliation.
Two cars screeched to a halt outside. Irene and Leroy, accompanied by Stevens Corporation security, burst in.
"Christie, are you alright?" Irene asked frantically.
"Mom, I'm fine. Andrew saved me," Christina explained.
Irene scoffed. "Saved you? Then why are you hurt?"
"Mom, don't be unreasonable!" Christina retorted, her frustration mounting. "If Andrew hadn't come, who knows what could have happened!"
Irene snorted. "If he'd arrived sooner, you wouldn't be injured. Andrew, get away from my daughter!"
Leroy confronted the bank's security team. "How dare you hurt my sister? You'll all pay for this!"
Irene, finding an outlet for her anger, joined in. "I can't believe you laid hands on my precious daughter! I'm tearing this place apart!"
Nelson, helped to his feet by his employees, said, "Well, wellโฆ Stevens Corporation thinks they can cause trouble at Jayrodale Bank, eh? You'll regret this!"
He pointed furiously at Irene and Leroy, his voice venomous. "You and your filthy family are done for. Mark my words."
Nelson pulled out his phone. "Mr. Thatcher, emergency at Jayrodale Bank. Stevens Corporation turned violent when we denied their loan. They attacked me; one broke my hand. Yes, yes, send officers immediately!"
After hanging up, Nelson smirked. "Think you can barge in and win because you outnumber us? Mr. Thatcher is on his way, and I'll enjoy watching you grovel."
The mention of Jayrodale's mayor chilled the Stevens group. Irene stammered, "M-Mr. Thatcher isโฆ your backer?"
Even Leroy paled, signaling their security team to stand down. Opposing the city's most powerful figure was a losing battle.
Nelson grinned viciously. "Scared now? Too bad. When Mr. Thatcher arrives, I'll make sure the Stevens family vanishes from Jayrodale for good."
Christina spoke defiantly, "Nelson, we won't fear you, even if the mayor comes. You started this!"
Nelson chuckled mockingly. "Ms. Stevens, I have no idea what you're talking about. Everyone knows the truth: you asked for a loan. When I refused, you tried to seduce me. I told you to leave, or I'd call security. Instead, you brought your 'thug' to frame me. When I wouldn't give in, he resorted to violence."
Nelson's voice rose. "That's the real story. And when Mr. Thatcher arrives, my people will back me up."
