Chapter 133
An uncomfortable silence settled between them in the car. Finally, Christina broke the silence, asking, “Do you still hate me after all this time?”
Andrew chuckled. “You’re overthinking it, Ms. Stevens. Why would I hate you? I’m happy you’re marrying into such a prestigious family.”
Christina murmured, looking lost. “I can’t explain it, but I feel no joy about Harvey’s return and proposal.”
“That’s your concern, Ms. Stevens. It’s none of my business,” Andrew replied coldly.
“Can’t you just listen to me?” Christina snapped, frustrated.
Andrew fixed her with an icy stare until she nervously looked away. “Look, I spent years listening to you, through your happiness and sadness, always supporting you quietly. But you chose another man because you thought I was too ordinary. You made your choice; whether it works out is your problem, not mine.”
Christina took a deep breath, her eyes regaining their determination. “No matter what, I believe I made the right choice. My career and life are thriving.”
“Is that so?” Andrew smirked. “Well, Ms. Stevens, I hope you continue to shine and lead Stevens Corporation to become a great family empire.”
“I know you’re being sarcastic,” Christina replied confidently. “But I truly believe I can lead Stevens Corporation to greater heights. Just wait and see!”
Andrew simply smirked. This woman was as arrogant as ever and, sadly, just as foolish. She truly believed she could build Stevens Corporation alone, oblivious to the pitfalls surrounding her—especially Harvey. He already foresaw significant trouble looming over Stevens Corporation.
Passing a row of luxury car dealerships, Andrew asked to stop.
“What’s wrong?” Christina asked as she pulled over.
“Nothing special,” Andrew said, opening the door. “I just noticed these dealerships. I might as well buy a car while we’re here. It’ll be more convenient.”
Christina also got out, suggesting, “Andrew, if you want a car, we should go to West End. These are all high-end dealerships—Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Porsche.” She worried he might embarrass himself.
“There’s no need to travel that far,” Andrew said dismissively. “This is fine. It’s just transportation.”
A young saleswoman greeted them at the Porsche dealership. “Sir, are you interested in purchasing a vehicle?”
After a quick look, Andrew pointed to a black Panamera. “I’ll take this one. Please process the paperwork.”
“Sir, you want to take it now?” the saleswoman asked, surprised. She’d never seen such a quick decision on a luxury car.
“This car is very expensive. Are you sure?” Christina whispered.
Andrew looked puzzled. “We’re here, so of course I’m buying. Why wouldn’t I?”
Christina felt exasperated, wondering if Andrew even knew the car’s value. She couldn't believe he was confidently buying a top-of-the-line Porsche. Andrew had already handed his card to the saleswoman.
With a beeping sound, the receipt for over $450,000 slowly printed. The saleswoman was visibly excited, her attitude towards Andrew distinctly more respectful. Anyone who could buy a luxury car worth hundreds of thousands without hesitation was clearly someone important.
Christina stood dumbfounded, staring at the receipt. She wondered where he got the money to spend hundreds of thousands so casually.
