Chapter 1385

Just as Andrew got into the car, his phone rangโ€“it was Francesca. He chuckled and said, โ€œFran, Iโ€™m on my way back now!โ€

To his surprise, Francesca sounded frantic. โ€œAndrew, no! Donโ€™t come backโ€“whatever you do, donโ€™t come back right now!โ€

Andrew was confused. โ€œDonโ€™t come back? Then where am I supposed to go?โ€

Francesca said urgently, โ€œAspen left. Sheโ€™s following her parents back to Bridgefields!โ€

Andrewโ€™s face darkened instantly. โ€œWhen did she leave?โ€

Francesca shouted, โ€œJust now! You can still catch her if you hurry to the airport! Mr. Stevens was the one who dragged her outโ€“he forced her to go!โ€

Andrew let out a low, sharp breath. โ€œGot it. Iโ€™m going to the airport right now!โ€

He hung up and immediately told the driver to turn around and head straight to Blumedale Airport.

The driver groaned. โ€œSir, are you trying to make my life hell? The airportโ€™s a nightmare this time of dayโ€“trafficโ€™s brutal!โ€

Without a word, Andrew opened his phone and transferred a solid 10,000 dollars into the driverโ€™s payment app. โ€œHow about now?โ€ he asked, calm and cold.

The driverโ€™s eyes nearly popped out of his head. Then, he grinned. โ€œSay no more, sir. If I donโ€™t get you to the airport in 20 minutes, Iโ€™ll let you use my head as a soccer ball!โ€

โ€œYouโ€™ve got ten minutes,โ€ Andrew replied flatly.

โ€œDone! No problem at all!โ€ Inwardly, the driver was still stunnedโ€“he had clearly just picked up a high roller. With that, he slammed his foot on the gas, and they roared off like a rocket.

Meanwhile, Zephyr and Esther were already leading Aspen through the terminal as the boarding call rang out through the PA system.

โ€œCome on, letโ€™s head back to Bridgefields,โ€ Zephyr said firmly. โ€œAspen, itโ€™s time for your life to start fresh.โ€ Esther gave her beloved daughter a gentle smile of encouragement, trying to make it easier.

Aspen hesitated, glancing back the way they came. Her steps slowed, her voice soft. โ€œButโ€ฆ Mom, Dadโ€ฆ I still want to stay in Blumedale a little longer.โ€

Zephyr snorted. โ€œMr. Lloyd has already released you. What reason do you have to stay?โ€

Aspen opened her mouth, searching for an excuse. โ€œNโ€“Nothing, really. Iโ€“I just have a few work-related matters to finish up.โ€

Esther chuckled, shaking her head. โ€œSilly girl. With all the brilliant people around Mr. Lloyd, do you really think he needs you to get things done? Come on now, letโ€™s go home. Youโ€™ve been through enoughโ€“itโ€™s time to rest.โ€

Aspen stopped walking. She drew a deep breath and clenched her fists, then turned to face them. โ€œDad, Momโ€ฆ Iโ€™ll just say it outright. I donโ€™t want to go back to Bridgefields.โ€

Neither Zephyr nor Esther looked surprised. Instead, their expressions turned heavy, their eyes deep with emotion.

Esther said softly, โ€œAspen, you donโ€™t want to leave Andrew, do you?โ€

Aspenโ€™s face flushed instantly. She stumbled over her words. โ€œMom, iโ€“itโ€™s not that I donโ€™t want to goโ€ฆ Maybe if I stay close to him, I could learn a few more things. Then, maybe I can build something solid for myself here in Blumedale.โ€

However, Zephyr cut her off with a sharp glare. โ€œLies! You love Andrew, donโ€™t you? All this talk about work and building something here is just an excuse! What you really want is to be by his side!โ€

Aspen shrank under his gaze, panicked. Eventually, she found her courage and lifted her chin. โ€œYes, I do love him. Dad, Momโ€“I love Andrew. I donโ€™t want to leave him, and I canโ€™t live without him. I wantโ€ฆ I want to be his woman. I want to stay with him forever and never leave his side.โ€

There was a long, painful silence.

At last, Esther spoke, her voice filled with sorrow. โ€œSweetheart, are you really sure about this? Andrew isnโ€™t like ordinary menโ€“heโ€™s something else entirely. Heโ€™s a born leader, a force of nature.

โ€œYou saw what he did at the Grand Medical Summitโ€“you know exactly what I mean. Men like him arenโ€™t meant to be held down. Let me be honest with you, honeyโ€“youโ€™re just not good enough for Andrew.

โ€œYou try to follow him, and your father and I are afraid youโ€™ll end up with nothing. That youโ€™ll give your heart and soul and be left with empty hands.โ€

Tears shimmered in Aspenโ€™s eyes, but she shook her head fiercely. โ€œMom, I know youโ€™re saying all this because you love me. But no matter what happens, I wonโ€™t regret it. Even if the day comes when he doesnโ€™t want me anymoreโ€“I still wonโ€™t regret a thing.โ€
