Chapter 144
“Take her.”
The command echoed, and two East Side thugs immediately seized Christina’s arms, dragging her away.
“Let her go! Who do you think you are, touching someone from the Stevens family?” Leroy roared.
“Don’t you dare touch her!” Irene screamed. “My daughter is Harvey Weller’s fiancée! Do you know what will happen to you?”
The leader remained impassive, radiating menace. “Do you think I care about the Stevens family? I’ve killed people from far more prominent families here in Jayrodale. Back off, or you’ll die. I won’t hesitate.”
His presence chilled everyone, but Leroy refused to yield. “Scared? Go ahead, try it! Harvey will have your head if you touch me!”
The leader’s eyes flashed, and a devastating blow sent Leroy sprawling. Blood spurted from his mouth as he lay semiconscious.
Christina and Irene froze in terror, facing a ruthless monster.
Irene shrieked, “Help! Someone help! They’re trying to kill us!”
Christina, however, remained calm. “Don’t hurt anyone else. I’ll go with you.”
“Christie, no!” Irene wailed. “They’ll kill you! Call Harvey—we need his help!”
The leader smirked. “Let me be clear: Mr. Madden Senior wants Ms. Stevens. Your calls won’t help. Only Andrew Lloyd’s plea for Mr. Madden Senior’s forgiveness will.”
They dragged Christina away, leaving Irene in shock.
“Leroy, sweetie, are you alright? I’ll take you to the hospital!” Irene cried, helping her son up. This was, unfortunately, not the first such incident.
“Mom, forget me,” Leroy gasped. “Call Harvey. Tony sent these men, and we can’t handle this alone.”
“But they said only Andrew can save her!” Irene worried.
“That coward? He’d probably die of fear facing Tony,” Leroy spat. “Only Harvey, with the Weller family’s influence, can save Christie!”
Chapter 144
Trembling, Irene called Harvey. “Harvey, Tony’s men took Christie! You have to save her, quickly!”
“What? Tony took Christie? Why?” Harvey’s voice was strained.
“How should I know why that madman did it?” Irene cursed. “They took her and beat Leroy until he’s coughing up blood!”
Tears welled. “I’ve heard Tony’s a notorious pervert… Christie’s so beautiful, Harvey. Just imagine what he might do to her!”
On the other end, Harvey’s face darkened.
