Chapter 157
Andrew scoffed silently. Francesca assumed he was merely posturing; wiping out all of East Side seemed impossibleโat least, she'd never imagined it. Just then, her phone rang. It was Lauren. As soon as she answered, Lauren urgently asked, โFran, something huge happened. Is Dr. Lloyd with you?โ
โYes, he is. What happened?โ
Laurenโs voice was grim. โAsk Dr. Lloyd if heโs responsible for eliminating the entire East Side and Tony.โ
The question struck Francesca like lightning. Forgetting Lauren, she stared at Andrew in shock.
She stammered, โYโYou actually destroyed Tony and all of East Sideโs criminal empire? How did you do it?โ
Before Andrew could answer, the hospital room door burst open. Irene rushed in, followed by other Stevens family members and Harvey.
โChristie, Christie, are you okay? My baby, thereโs so much blood! How badly are you hurt?โ Irene wailed, rushing to the hospital bed.
โSheโs just asleep. Itโs best not to wake her,โ Andrew said, frowning.
Irene whirled around, shouting, โAndrew, youโre shameless, showing your face here! This is all your fault! Youโre nothing but bad luck! If it werenโt for you, would our Christie be in this state?โ
Andrew remained silent, acknowledging some responsibility. He hadn't anticipated Tony using Christina against him.
โMaโam, I canโt listen to this anymore,โ Francesca interrupted coldly. โDr. Lloyd rescued Ms. Stevens. Instead of thanking him, youโre accusing him. Isnโt that incredibly ungrateful?โ
โThank this good-for-nothing? For what?โ Irene spat. โYou say he rescued my daughter, but why was she in danger in the first place?โ
โRescuing someone from Tony isnโt easy,โ Francesca retorted. โOnly someone like Dr. Lloyd could pull it off. Otherwise, Ms. Stevens might not have survived.โ
โWhat do I care about any of that?โ Irene ranted. โAll I know is Christie got hurt because of him. Heโs useless!โ
As Francesca tried to argue, Andrew stopped her and addressed Irene. โTony hurt Christie, so I took revenge for her. Iโll also ensure all her injuries are fully healed.โ
โYou took revenge?โ Irene scoffed. โWho are you trying to fool? I know it was South Cityโs Mr. Garner and Mr. Yates who took down Tony.โ
โYou could say that,โ Andrew replied calmly. โBut Marvin and Dylan work for me. I ordered them to eliminate East Side.โ
Irene looked at him with contempt. โWow, Andrew, youโve gotten good at telling tall tales. Do you think Iโm stupid enough to believe that?โ
โWhether you believe me or not is irrelevant,โ Andrew said. โI do what needs to be done, answering only to my own conscience.โ
