Mikayla quickly lowered her head. โMadam Baxter, donโt worry. I know the rules.โ
Only then did Brielle leave with her attendants.
Amari scratched his messy hair with an awkward chuckle.
A short distance away, Brielle muttered, โMikayla is calculating, her goals and desires far too obvious. Amari, donโt go making trouble and dragging Andrew into it. Then again, why am I even meddling in their business? Maybe I just donโt want to see that remarkable boy fall into a trap. Besides, thereโs still the SoulโRestoring Pill he promised me.โ
Soon after, Mikayla and Caden exited Sovereignโs Apothecary together.
Caden, his eyes full of admiration, tried to sound casual as he asked, โMikayla, are you free tomorrow? A few of us classmates recently advanced in our alchemy training, and weโre planning a little gathering. Would you like to come?โ
Mikayla flashed a charming smile. โA gathering? That sounds nice. But unfortunately, I really do have important matters tomorrow, so Iโll have to miss this one. You all go ahead without me. Next time, alright?โ
Cadenโs face showed disappointment, but he forced a smile. โAlright, next time then. Mikayla, youโre so hard to ask out. See you.โ
Mikayla smiled. โSee you! Next time, I promise.โ
Once Caden left, she slid into her Bentley. Inside, Isabelle sat with a tablet in her hands, watching cartoons.
Without looking up, she muttered, โMikayla, you clearly donโt want anything to do with those losers. Why not just reject him outright and have him give up?โ
Mikayla shook her head with a laugh. โBelle, youโre too innocent; you donโt understand. If I reject him directly, heโll stop calling on me, and Iโll lose influence over him. Leaving things vague keeps people in my orbit. If I want to stand firm at Sovereignโs Apothecary, having a few followers and admirers is a must.โ
Isabelle rolled her eyes and murmured, โMikayla, thereโs always a manipulative character in every cartoon. You kind of fit the description.โ
Mikayla huffed coldly. โPeople can call me what they like. I go after what I want, and I donโt think thatโs wrong. Besides, itโs not me chasing them; itโs them chasing me.โ
โOh,โ Isabelle replied dismissively before returning to her cartoon.
Then, she suddenly said, โI saw Andrew coming out earlier.โ
Mikayla sneered. โHe was delusional, thinking he could meet Madam Baxter. I bet he left emptyโhanded, tail between his legs. What a pity. Ten years ago, he was the golden boy, the pride of the Lloyd familyโs royal line. Back then, no one in Chetvine dared refuse him.โ
Isabelle shrugged her small shoulders. โAndrew seems pitiful now. I kind of want to help him.โ
Mikayla frowned as the driver pulled away. โBelle, why are you suddenly so concerned about Andrew? Focus on your martial training and leave everything else alone.โ
Isabelle pouted, looking bored. โI just think heโs a good person. He used to be everyoneโs idol. Even though heโs returned with nothing but enemies and a ruined name, the last time, he still held back against me. And I attacked him with everything I had. Heโs still that warmhearted older brother we once looked up to.โ
Mikaylaโs voice turned icy. โYouโre imagining things. Listen to me: Andrew is dangerous. Back in Chetvine, heโll keep hitting walls until he fades into obscurity. Instead of wasting your kindness on him, you should pay attention to the new talents rising in Chetvine. Kyrie from the Harding family is pursuing you, isnโt he? Why not give him a little response? Treat him like a pet dog if you must.โ
Isabelle made a disgusted face. โThat brainless idiot? Just thinking about him makes me sick. Men? I donโt even care about men. I could crush any of them with one punch.โ
Mikayla shook her head helplessly. โFine, have it your way. But stay out of Andrewโs business. I wonโt tolerate it, and your family will punish you if you meddle.โ
โGot it,โ Isabelle said softly, though her eyes betrayed that she did not mean it at all.
