Chapter 318
Andrew was silent a moment, then glanced at Francesca. Her face flushed crimson, and the instant she met his gaze, she quickly averted it, muttering, "Andrew, ignore Grandpa's nonsense. He's a hopeless old man."
Andrew chuckled softly. "Dr. Aicker, as I've mentioned, the age difference is too significant. Accepting you as my apprentice wouldn't be appropriate, so let's not revisit this."
Cedric looked visibly disappointed, nodding and sighing. "Fair enough. It was a bold request." He brightened. "However, Dr. Lloyd, I didn't come merely to inquire about apprenticeship. Something else requires our discussion."
Andrew tilted his head curiously. "Oh? I'm listening."
Cedric stroked his beard. "Today's the Radiant Group Antiquities Showcase. Experts and collectors from Jayrodale, Blumedale, and even Bridgefields will attend." He smiled. "I hoped you'd join me, lending your expertise."
Francesca, though still flustered, quickly nodded. "Andrew, the Radiant Group showcase is prestigious. Let's goโit's a fantastic opportunity."
Andrew considered this, then smiled. "Very well. I'd already promised Ms. Santana I'd attend, coincidentally."
Francesca huffed softly. "Oh, right. Ms. Santana invited you at the Weller residence." Her tone held a hint of annoyance, clearly related to Andrew's association with Elsie.
Cedric, however, was delighted. "Dr. Lloyd, I didn't realize you had such a close connection with Ms. Santana! Excellent!" He grinned mischievously. "At the showcase, I'll leverage your connection to secure some treasures."
Andrew laughed. "Dr. Aicker, you're quite passionate about antiques."
Cedric straightened with pride. "Dr. Lloyd, beyond my reputation as a healer, I've established myself in the world of antiques."
Chapter 310
Francesca teased, "Grandpa, stop showing off. You enjoy collecting, but your appraisal skills are hardly impressive." Cedric's face fell; he glared. "Silly girl! The art of collecting and appraising antiques is as intricate as medicine! Most would envy my expertise!"
Francesca playfully stuck out her tongue but didn't argue further. Her expression, however, clearly displayed her disbelief.
Andrew turned to her. "Fran, if you're coming, will the hospital manage without you?"
Francesca smiled brightly. "Andrew, I deserve a break! I've made arrangements, and Dr. Hackett's there."
Andrew looked surprised. "Bernard's back?"
Francesca rolled her eyes. "Yes, and with Mr. Bozzelli's backing, he acts like he owns the place." She sighed dismissively. "But let's forget that annoying fellow. Let's go!"
The three piled into Andrew's sleek black Mercedes G-Wagon and headed toward the antique district.
Chapter 319
Influential figures sat chatting about million-dollar artifacts with effortless confidence.
"Dr. Aicker! Delighted you could make it!"
Elsie approached with a warm smile. Though her words addressed Cedric, her gaze lingered on Andrew.
Cedric chuckled, greeting her. "Ms. Santana, many familiar faces. Once the event begins, I'm counting on you to help me find treasures."
Elsie smiled sweetly. "Dr. Aicker, leave it to me. If you see something, let me knowโI'll ensure you acquire it."
Cedric laughed heartily. "With you, Ms. Santana, I have no doubts. Your antique expertise is impressive."
A staff member escorted Cedric to his seat, but Elsie turned to Francesca. "Ms. Fran, why not sit with Dr. Aicker?"
Francesca frowned slightly. "Thanks, but I'll sit with Andrew."
Elsie's smile didn't falter as she turned to Andrew. "Mr. Lloyd, anything catch your eye? I'd happily assistโfor free, of course."
