Chapter 339

Andrew smiled. "Don't mention it. I didn't do much for Dr. Aicker; the relic simply seemed to have a natural connection with him."

Elsie observed Andrew with subtle interest, her thoughts churning. Could a man like this truly exist? Someone so composed, charming, and effortlessly skilled? His demeanor, words, charisma, even his looks—he checked every box. She admitted he had a magnetic pull, yet felt a pang of disappointment. Despite her efforts, her charm hadn't caught his attention.

Just then, a staff member whispered in Elsie's ear. She hesitated before saying, "Mr. Lloyd, the Jayrodale Antiques Association would like to invite you to join. Are you interested?"

Andrew instinctively wanted to decline. He disliked club memberships, VIP titles, or committee positions. Such labels held no appeal; he preferred solitude.

Before he could refuse, Francesca interjected with a cheerful laugh. "That's a great honor! I've heard it earns much respect. Andrew, this is perfect for you, especially at your age. Thank you, Ms. Santana!"

Elsie's face lit up. "Then it's settled! I'll inform the president that Mr. Lloyd is joining."

Seeing their pleasure, Andrew stifled his objections, letting out a small sigh of resignation.

After a short break, Elsie announced, "Mr. Lloyd, we're about to begin the festival highlight."

Andrew raised an eyebrow. "I thought the event was lively enough. What's this highlight?"

Elsie smiled slyly and whispered, "Stone gambling. A tradition where fortunes are made—or lost—on the gamble of what lies hidden inside raw stones."

Francesca's eyes sparkled. "Oh, I've heard of that! The adrenaline rush and thrill of the unknown, right? Even wealthy collectors are cautious, though."

Elsie nodded. "Exactly. The stakes are so high that one mistake could ruin someone. I once saw a prominent expert risk his entire fortune on a single uncut stone. It was worthless; he lost everything."

Francesca's expression turned sympathetic. "To gamble away everything for something so uncertain… Why would anyone do that? The risk is immense—like betting your life on a roulette wheel spin."

Andrew shrugged calmly. "That's the allure. People enjoy turning nothing into something, taking a risk for a reward. You'd be surprised how many are drawn to the thrill."

Francesca looked at Elsie in surprise. "Ms. Santana, is Andrew right? Are that many people really into this?"

Elsie smiled knowingly. "He's absolutely right. The magic lies in its unpredictability and the hope it offers. Even knowing the risks, people can't resist chasing that one big chance."

Francesca shook her head in disbelief. "I honestly can't understand how anyone could take such a risk."
