Chapter 379

Andrew replied calmly, โ€œSimon has always had issues with me, so Iโ€™m not surprised he brought me up. Iโ€™m guessing he complained about me to Cedric and you?โ€

โ€œHe didnโ€™t complain because I wouldnโ€™t let him speak ill of you,โ€ Francesca answered awkwardly. โ€œHe just asked if you were the reason I wouldnโ€™t be with him, and what our relationship was like.โ€

Andrew found himself momentarily at a loss for words. Looking at Francescaโ€™s innocent face, he smiled and asked, โ€œSo what do you think about all this?โ€

Francesca stammered, caught off guard by his directness. โ€œWโ€“What do you mean?โ€

โ€œIโ€™m asking what you think about the situation. We could use this to help solve your problem with Simon,โ€ Andrew clarified with a gentle laugh.

Francesca turned away, pretending to look at the riverside scenery to hide her flustered expression. Her heart was racing as she tried to calm her breathing.

Andrew explained carefully, โ€œYou misunderstand. Iโ€™m not asking if you have feelings for me. In fact, I have an idea that might help stop Simon from pursuing you.โ€

Francescaโ€™s eyes lit up with curiosity. โ€œTell me! If it can help me deal with Simon, Iโ€™d be so grateful.โ€

Andrew hesitated before continuing, โ€œHear me out completely before deciding. Itโ€™s just a temporary solution.โ€

Francesca nodded eagerly, saying, โ€œGo on! Youโ€™re much smarter than me; surely you have a great idea.โ€

Andrew replied, โ€œYou can tell Simon that you and I are seeing each other, and that Mr. Aicker approves. He might be angry at first, but having no hope might help him move on.โ€

Francesca pretended to glare at Andrew. โ€œWhy do I feel like youโ€™re taking advantage of this situation?โ€

Andrew quickly backtracked. โ€œIf you feel that way, just forget I suggested it!โ€

Then, Francesca broke into a smile. โ€œNo, I think itโ€™s a good plan. Simon is 33 nowโ€“itโ€™s time for him to find someone else. Once he gets over me, Grandpa can help him find a suitable match, and everything will work out.โ€

Andrew smiled back. โ€œIโ€™m glad I could help!โ€

Francesca looked at him with a gentle gaze. โ€œAndrew, thank you. You really are kind. I was feeling down earlier, but talking with you has brightened my mood.โ€

Andrew joked lightly, โ€œMy help usually comes with a price, you know.โ€

To his surprise, Francesca puffed out her chest, her tone both bold and playful. โ€œFine! Go ahead and name your price and Iโ€™ll see to it that youโ€™re compensated. Iโ€™ll even let Lauren know Iโ€™m giving it to you willingly. I promise not to complain or cause any trouble, and Iโ€™ll even put it in writing and sign it!โ€

Andrew nearly spat out his coffee. He could not help but think to himself: It was not the innocent-looking ones with killer curves you should fearโ€“it was the ones who played coy and knew exactly what they were doing.

The evening breeze swept across the riverside, bringing with it a refreshing mist from the water.
