Chapter 814

Lauren assured him, โ€œDonโ€™t worry, Iโ€™ll get it done!โ€

Andrew turned to Shiloh and asked, โ€œAs for where youโ€™ll stayโ€ฆ I have no idea where to put you. How about I just buy you a place?โ€

Shiloh immediately shook her head. โ€œNo way! City housing prices are insane. I checked online, and in Jayrodale, itโ€™s over 15 grand per square foot. Iโ€™m not buying!โ€

Andrew laughed. โ€œRelax, Iโ€™ll pay for it. You can just live there for free!โ€

Shiloh shook her head even harder. โ€œThatโ€™s even worse! I donโ€™t like owing people!โ€

Andrew felt a headache coming on. โ€œDidnโ€™t you just make 20 million? Use your own money to buy a place.โ€

Shilohโ€™s eyes burned with outrage. โ€œAbsolutely not! I just earned a fortune, and the first thing you want me to do is dump it into real estate? Mr. Lloyd, youโ€™ve got capitalism running through your veins. Evil, evil, big bad energy โ€“ do you get that?โ€

Andrew just stared at her, speechless. He had no counter for that.

Meanwhile, Lauren could not hold it in anymore, doubled over laughing, nearly gasping for breath. This was the first time she had ever seen Andrew lose an argument.

โ€œOh my! I canโ€™t breatheโ€ฆ Alright, Dr. Lloyd, how about this โ€“ Shiloh likes wellness, herbal medicine, and making videos.โ€ Struggling to suppress her laughter, Lauren continued, โ€œWhy donโ€™t we let her stay at your place at Moonlit Apothecary? The backyard is big, and itโ€™s nice and quiet!โ€

Andrew thought about it and agreed it actually made sense. Moonlit Apothecary had been rebuilt on the foundation of the Wellersโ€™ old clubhouse, and there was still plenty of unused space. It would be a perfect place for Shiloh to stay, and she could also help keep an eye on the shop. It was a win-win.

โ€œAlright, Shiloh, you can live at Moonlit Apothecary!โ€ Andrew said.

Shiloh frowned. โ€œIโ€™ll stay, but are you charging rent? If itโ€™s too expensive, Iโ€™m not doing it.โ€

Andrew sighed. โ€œIโ€™m not charging a dime!โ€

Shiloh finally agreed. โ€œGood. Then Iโ€™ll move in. And so you donโ€™t think Iโ€™m just freeloading, Iโ€™ll handle the shopโ€™s cleaning and maintenance.โ€

Finally, the overly meticulous yet broke martial king was settled.

Andrew was beyond exhausted. He waved goodbye to Lauren and clocked out for the day, ready to go home and actually rest for once.

At the entrance of Rhodes Corporation, a group of security guards stood armed with poles and plastic batons, approaching cautiously. They had been trained for security emergencies, so their movements were coordinated and professional.

โ€œThe moment we open the trunk, hit it fast. We have to pin this thing down. If a wild boar gets loose in the city, people are going to get hurt,โ€ the head of security, Jamie Holt, instructed.

One of the guards, a burly guy, pounded his chest. โ€œDonโ€™t worry, Captain! Even if itโ€™s a bull in there, weโ€™ll take it down!โ€

The three guards nodded confidently, gripping their weapons, ready to strike. Then, Jamie reached for the car, took a deep breath, and yanked the trunk open.

The burly guard roared and lunged forward, stabbing his pole into the trunk. The others followed suit, charging in and swinging their batons at whatever was inside without hesitation.

A bloodcurdling scream tore through the air, so shrill and desperate it sounded like an animal was being slaughtered.

Jamie froze. โ€œWait a minuteโ€ฆ that screamโ€ฆ why does it sound human?โ€

One of the other guards suddenly shouted, โ€œCaptain, thereโ€™s no boar at all! Thereโ€™s a man in there!โ€
