Chapter 84
Marvinโs tone was cold. โYou must be Kaneโs son. Get to the point.โ
Harvey, noticing the distance in Marvinโs voice, pressed on with a friendly laugh. โMr. Yates, Iโd like to purchase the King of Diamonds from you. Please name your price.โ
โKing of Diamonds? What King of Diamonds?โ Marvinโs response left Harvey stunned.
โThe multi-million-dollar diamond ring in Jayrodale,โ Harvey explained. โItโs currently with Andrew, your staff. He refuses to sell it to me. I thought it best to speak with you directly, but I suspect Andrew may be trying to steal it.โ
A cold smile played on Harveyโs lips. He would not only acquire the ring but also expose Andrewโs supposed treachery to Marvin, known for his harsh treatment of underlings.
โI have no idea what youโre talking about,โ Marvin replied. โThat King of Diamonds has nothing to do with me.โ
Harvey was dumbfounded. โMr. Yates, if the ring isnโt yours, then whose is it?โ
โIโve heard Kaneโs son is supposed to be one of Jayrodaleโs finest, but you seem rather dense,โ Marvin said dryly. โI already told you itโs not mine. Whoever possesses it is the rightful owner. Why are you asking such obvious questions? This is ridiculous!โ
He hung up.
Harvey stood frozen. Irene eagerly asked, โWhat did Mr. Yates say? Did he agree?โ
Leroy chuckled. โCome on, with Harvey handling it, even Mr. Yates would have shown him respect!โ
โHe saidโฆ the King of Diamonds isnโt his,โ Harvey replied.
The Stevens family was shocked. Christina exclaimed in disbelief, โSo the ring is really Andrewโs?โ
โImpossible!โ Irene snapped. โThat nobody couldnโt afford it! There must be some other explanation.โ
Ignoring her mother, Christina studied Harvey suspiciously. โHarvey, is the ring really Andrewโs?โ
โChristie, how could it be?โ Harvey scoffed. โItโs worth 7.5 million! Only a handful of people in Jayrodale could afford that, and Andrew isnโt one of them.โ
Christina fell silent, lost in thought. Memories of her time with Andrew surfaced. Since their engagement ended, sheโd noticed a change in him, a growing formidability that left her increasingly uncertain about his true nature. That night, she lay awake, a voice whispering that she might have missed something precious, something she would forever regret.
Meanwhile, at an exclusive bathhouse in East Side, Tony also endured a sleepless night. His group had reserved the entire private bathhouse. Alone in the steaming pool, his brow furrowed with worry.
