Chapter 369

Quinton muttered, โ€œChristinaโ€™s a tough one. Sheโ€™s still on guard and clearly doesnโ€™t trust me fully yet. So before I can truly get her under my thumb, I need to hit her with something bigโ€”something she wonโ€™t see coming.โ€

Harvey chuckled coldly. โ€œFine, Quinton. Iโ€™ll play along. Iโ€™ve been itching to make a move on the Stevens family anyway.โ€

Quinton nodded. โ€œGood. Then wait for my signal and act when the momentโ€™s right.โ€

Meanwhile, over at Moonlit Apothecary, closing time had arrived.

โ€œDr. Aicker, Dr. Lloyd, Iโ€™m heading home for the night!โ€ Nyla said cheerfully.

It was as if Camilla stealing her paycheck had never happened. Andrew smiled warmly. โ€œAlright, Nyla. Get home safe.โ€

Nyla gave him a bright smile and walked out with her bag swinging gently by her side.

Francesca watched her go and scoffed. โ€œI canโ€™t believe how naive that girl is. Sheโ€™s being walked all over and doesnโ€™t even make a sound. Honestly, I donโ€™t get her.โ€

Andrew spoke softly, โ€œNylaโ€™s a kind girl. She clearly doesnโ€™t want to burden us by sharing too muchโ€”sheโ€™s probably thinking of her family.โ€

Francesca snorted. โ€œThinking of them? Please. Iโ€™m telling you, her fatherโ€”Dominic, head of the Goth familyโ€”is one of the worst people Iโ€™ve ever met. In our social circle, no one takes him seriously. Heโ€™s a total joke. I really donโ€™t know how that girl manages to live with a vile stepmother and a father like that, especially without a biological mom around.โ€

Andrew sighed lightly. โ€œThatโ€™s exactly why I say sheโ€™s kind. To survive all that and still stay gentleโ€ฆ thatโ€™s rare.โ€

Francesca crossed her arms. โ€œSometimes kindness isnโ€™t a strength. When you let yourself get stepped on without ever pushing back, whatโ€™s the point of it?โ€

Andrew chuckled. โ€œAlright, donโ€™t get all worked up. I know you care about Nyla. Come on, weโ€™re off the clock. Let me treat you to some grilled skewers.โ€

Francescaโ€™s mood softened instantly. โ€œFine, but Iโ€™m ordering a lot of barbecue.โ€

After feeding the busty little firecracker a table full of meat, it was well past seven. When Andrew returned to his hilltop villa, his phone started ringingโ€”it was Natasha.

โ€œSo, let me guess,โ€ Andrew said with a smirk. โ€œAll that drama Quinton stirred up was his attempt to rally the cityโ€™s powers and come after me?โ€

Natashaโ€™s voice was ice-cold. โ€œExactly, darling. Just like you guessed, Quinton called in pretty much every heavyweight in Jayrodale, anyone who had a shred of influence. But in the end, that spoiled prince from Blumedale became the laughingstock of the night. No one gave a damn. I even told him off straight to his face and dropped a โ€˜fuck youโ€™ on my way out.โ€

Andrew laughed. โ€œThat sounds like youโ€”no filter, no mercy.โ€

Natasha gritted her teeth. โ€œThat bastard wanted to use us to take you down. He seriously needs to look in the mirror. Does he look like someone whoโ€™s in our league?โ€

Andrewโ€™s eyes turned cold. โ€œBesides you and our people, did anyone else agree to be his pawn? Anyone willing to die for him?โ€

Natasha let out a dry laugh. โ€œNot a single one. Raymond practically ran off mid-meeting, looking like he was about to wet himself. Even Harveyโ€”that slippery little weaselโ€”turned him down flat. Heโ€™s too scared to mess with you again.โ€

Then, in a teasing voice, she added, โ€œDarling, you donโ€™t even realize, around here youโ€™re like a walking nightmare. No one dares come at you. Quinton offered up billions in investment deals, and not one person gave a damn."
