Chapter 149 It's All My Fault
Lola approached Anne, holding her face.
โAnne, itโs all my fault. If I hadnโt hurt my foot, Dante wouldnโt have fought with you over me. Iโm apologizing on his behalf. Please donโt be mad at him, okay?โ
Dante pulled Lola to him. โItโs not your fault you got hurt. Whatโs there to apologize for?โ
With a stumble, Lola fell into Danteโs arms as he pulled her.
Anneโs eyes were red with anger, and her body was shaking.
Meryl quickly steadied her with a swift grab.
Anne couldnโt stand it anymore.
With a pale face, she said to Meryl, โHelp me leave here.โ
Anne looked so unwell that Meryl felt pity for her. She was about to stand up for her, but seeing Anneโs awful state, she helped her to the ward first.
โCalm down. Iโll call a doctor.โ
Soon, a doctor came and, after examining her, frowned deeply.
โWerenโt we clear that you shouldnโt have such big emotional swings?โ The doctor sighed. โYou should be hospitalized to steady your pregnancy. You canโt go home tonight.โ
Meryl nodded, but then Anne said, โNo, I donโt want to keep it. Doc, I want to terminate the pregnancy. Just do the surgery.โ
The doctor was startled. โAre you sure?โ
Although it was a threatened miscarriage, the situation wasnโt beyond saving. A rest for ten days to two weeks should be enough.
Anne nodded. โYes, can we do it tonight?โ
โNo, the operating rooms are closed now. If you really donโt want it, I can schedule the surgery for tomorrow morning.โ
Anne replied, โOkay, the sooner the better.โ
The doctor left, and Meryl fell silent.
โYou donโt need to persuade me. After that, Iโll file for divorce. If he doesnโt sign, Iโll get a lawyer.โ
โIโm not trying to persuade you. I just feel for you.โ Meryl sat by the hospital bed and gently took Anneโs hand.
She felt deeply for Anne and Danteโs situation, which reminded her of her and Daltonโs past. The difference was that she cut her losses early, but Anne and Dante not only married but also had a child.
She thought, โNow, the burden of ending the pregnancy is solely on Anne. Why should she suffer alone?โ
Chandler called to ask why they hadnโt left yet.
Still angry, remembering Chandler was friends with Dante, Meryl lashed out.
โHeโs outside the hospital, isnโt he? Heโs neglecting his wife, taking care of another woman.โ
As soon as Meryl finished speaking, Chandler spotted Dante helping Lola out of the hospital building in the distance.
He frowned. โI think I see them.โ
Meryl, clutching her phone, walked to the window. โIโm really angry. I canโt just watch Anne go through this and do nothing. Chandler, I know Dante is your friend, but Anne is my friend too! If you try to stop me from hitting him, we might as well get a divorce!โ
Chandler was speechless.
As she spoke, Dante had already reached Chandler.
Seeing Chandler, Dante left Lola and went to greet him.
โChandler, what a coincidence youโre here too,โ Dante said, looking down and reaching for a cigarette.
Suddenly, Chandler swung a punch right at Danteโs nose.
From afar, Meryl couldnโt see clearly but heard a loud bang through the phone, followed by Dante cursing loudly.
โDamn! My nose is bleeding. Chandler, what are you doing? It hurts like hell!โ
