Chapter 27 Bring Her In
Dalton was irritated. Last night, Dante dragged him out for drinks, and after just two glasses of the potent stuff, he was completely out of it. He couldnโt remember at all how he ended up at the hotel with Lydia.
This morning, he was swarmed by reporters right at his hotel room door, which really frustrated him.
โChandler, can you say something?โ
Only then did Chandler set down his documents. He turned towards Dalton and looked at him.
โEmbarrassed now, are you? You messed up. You fix it.โ
His cold tone sent a chill through Dalton.
โChandler, weโre both Anistons. This scandal embarrasses the entire Aniston family. Besides, even if you donโt care about me, would you really just watch as Galaxy Holdings Groupโs stock continues to plummet?โ
Chandler scoffed, unmoved. โIf Galaxy Holdings can survive this, so can you. After tarnishing our familyโs reputation, you still have the audacity to ask for my help? Where do you get the nerve?โ
Dalton found Chandler to be excessively heartless. But then again, he felt it made sense. Galaxy Holdings Group was unnecessarily dragged into his mess, and in just one morning, it had lost billions of dollars. Likely, every shareholder in the company despised him now.
At that moment, Walter knocked and entered. He glanced at Dalton before speaking, โLydia is here to see you, Mr. Aniston.โ
Just as Dalton was about to go out to meet her, Chandler commanded coldly, โBring her in.โ
Lydia said, โDalton, our affair has gotten too much attention. Celestial Ventures Groupโs stock is also affected. If this continues, the losses will only grow.โ
As soon as Lydia entered and saw Chandler was also there, she was stunned and quickly greeted them. โMr. Aniston.โ
Dalton noticed a scarf draped over Lydiaโs arm and quickly recognized it as the one he gave to Meryl ten years ago.
He asked in surprise, โThatโsโฆโ
โI found it in the trash at the Stone Villa this morning. It must have been thrown out by my sister. I remember this belongs to you, Dalton. Do you still want it?โ
A vein throbbed on Daltonโs face. โOh, very nice! Meryl, well!โ
Lydia looked guilty and remorseful. โMaybe this morningโs news upset herโฆ Dalton, maybe I should explain it to herโฆโ
Dalton said coldly, โChandler, Iโm calling off my engagement with Meryl. Iโm marrying Lydia now!โ
He thought, โSince Meryl dared to throw away my stuff, Iโll make her regret it for life! She only dared because of our engagement. Letโs see who she can turn to once the engagement is off!โ
Chandlerโs eyes darkened with a deep intensity. โOh?โ
Dalton clenched his teeth. โJust say that Meryl has been in prison for three years and doesnโt deserve me! I decided to marry Lydia a long time ago. We just havenโt announced it. That way, what happened this morning with Lydia and me will be totally justified.โ
Lydia was thrilled. The stage was set, and the play was in full swing. She had been wondering how to bring this up to Dalton without seeming obvious, but he had already taken the initiative. Although in Lydiaโs original plan, things werenโt supposed to blow up this big, and her reputation wasnโt supposed to be destroyed, the outcome was the same. Marrying Dalton was worth losing her reputation.
Hearing this, Chandler slammed his cup down on the table, creating a harsh sound. The atmosphere suddenly tensed, causing Dalton and Lydiaโs hearts to race.
โWhat did you say? She doesnโt deserve you?โ
The menace in Chandlerโs eyes was chilling.
