Chapter 357: Lydiaโ€™s True Color

โ€œHow dare you blame me for anything that happens to you? Lydia, are you joking? Youโ€™ve done so many terrible things. Sooner or later, youโ€™ll get what you deserve.โ€

With that, Meryl didnโ€™t linger any longer.

Lydia stared at Merylโ€™s retreating figure, so furious that her hands clenched into fists, trembling with rage.

โ€œMeryl, even if you know everything Iโ€™ve done, what can you do about it? Iโ€™m pregnant with the Aniston familyโ€™s child. This baby is my shield. Even if Rocky has changed his testimony in prison, the Aniston family will still protect me. My father will be on my side, so nothing will happen to me.โ€

Meryl merely gave her a cold smile at those words.

Just then, Dalton appeared.

He had been quietly following Meryl ever since she began her evening walk in the garden after dinner. There was something magnetic about her that drew him closer without him even realizing it. As a result, he had overheard every word of the conversation.

This was the first time Dalton had faced Lydiaโ€™s true nature. He had never imagined that she could be so vicious. He realized then that her past sweetness and vulnerability had all been an act. The shock and disillusionment hit him hard.

Lydiaโ€™s face flickered with fear when she saw Dalton, but she quickly regained her composure and walked toward him.

โ€œDalton, when did you get here? Everything I said just now was out of anger. I was just arguing with Meryl. Donโ€™t take it seriously.โ€

Daltonโ€™s gaze was laced with scorn.

โ€œThe thought that someone like you is carrying my child makes me sick.โ€

โ€œDalton, I told you, I was just saying nonsense. Donโ€™t believe it.โ€

โ€œYou said it yourself, Lydia. You just admitted to everything, but earlier, you blamed Rocky for slandering you.โ€

Daltonโ€™s eyes drifted to Lydiaโ€™s belly.

โ€œGet rid of the baby. Take the money and go. If you do it now, it wonโ€™t be too hard on your body. Name your price.โ€

He was willing to pay anything to be rid of her.

Tears immediately welled up in Lydiaโ€™s eyes.

โ€œDalton, how could you say such a thing in front of Meryl? You know how tense my relationship is with her. Youโ€™re trampling on my dignity! You may not care about the child, but Iโ€™m his mother. Iโ€™m going to have him.โ€

Dalton let out a disdainful laugh.

โ€œYou knew all along that one day Iโ€™d leave you. Thatโ€™s why youโ€™re trying to use this child to tie me down for life, arenโ€™t you? Lydia, youโ€™re delusional. Do you really think that after I expose everything youโ€™ve done, my mother will still protect you?โ€

Daltonโ€™s voice grew colder with each word. โ€œThe only reason I havenโ€™t said anything yet is because I was giving you some mercy. But now, I donโ€™t see the need to hold back anymore.โ€

With that, Dalton turned to leave.

โ€œDalton, where are you going?โ€

โ€œWhere do you think? Iโ€™m going to tell the Aniston family the truth about everything youโ€™ve done.โ€

โ€œDalton, you canโ€™t be this cruel to me!โ€

As the two argued, Meryl watched the spectacle from the sidelines with a detached indifference. Though it was natural to enjoy watching the drama unfold, old grudges like these quickly grew tiresome.

Meryl shrugged, ready to walk away.

Suddenly, she heard the sound of splashing water. Turning around, she saw that Lydia had pushed Dalton into the water!

Meryl froze in shock.

She thought to herself, โ€œDid Lydia really just do that? How could she push a strong man like Dalton into the water?โ€

โ€œIโ€ฆ I didnโ€™t mean toโ€ฆโ€

Lydia stammered, panic spreading across her face as she backed away. โ€œDalton, just wait, Iโ€ฆ Iโ€™ll go get help!โ€

Without another word, Lydia turned and ran off, not looking back.
