Chapter 397 Sowing Discord

Dalton didnโ€™t want to involve Chandler, knowing it would only complicate matters. He felt a bit guilty, especially since he was still keeping Meryl around.

โ€œUncle Chandler, this is our personal business. Just let it be!โ€

Chandler smirked, clearly unimpressed. โ€œPersonal? You were the one shouting about marrying her, and now you want to divorce her out of nowhere? Treating marriage like a joke? Thatโ€™s embarrassing for the Aniston family. As the head of the family, I canโ€™t just turn a blind eye.โ€

Dalton bristled. โ€œOur relationship is over. If I want a divorce, I donโ€™t need to explain myself to anyone. I canโ€™t even stand being around Lydia anymore, so why should I need your permission?โ€

His bluntness surprised even Lydia. It was rare for anyone in the Aniston family to speak so openly to Chandler.

โ€œOkay, no need for my approval,โ€ Chandler said, his voice growing serious. โ€œBut you canโ€™t just sneak out of a marriage that was so public. If you want to end this, Iโ€™ll help you make it stick.โ€

Before Dalton could react, Chandler pulled out his phone. โ€œGet ready for a press conference. Call all the media. We have something important to announce about the Aniston family.โ€

โ€œUncle Chandler, what are you doing?โ€ Dalton was taken aback.

Chandler chuckled. โ€œOnce the press gets involved, your mom wonโ€™t be able to stop this. Isnโ€™t that how you brought Lydia into the family in the first place? Now that Iโ€™m bringing in the reporters, maybe you should thank me for the help.โ€

Dalton frowned. โ€œThis will just make us a laughingstock!โ€ After all, their marriage had been so sudden.

โ€œWorried about that? Youโ€™ve already become the talk of the town,โ€ Chandler shot back.

Daltonโ€™s expression darkened. As much as he hated to admit it, Chandler had a point. He didnโ€™t realize getting rid of Lydia would be this complicated. When he married her, people were skeptical, but now that he wanted a divorce, everyone suddenly wanted to convince him to stay.

Frustrated, he shot a glare at Lydia before storming out of the house. With Chandler meddling in his affairs, he worried.

Once Dalton was gone, Lydia let out a sigh of relief and thanked Chandler. If Chandler hadnโ€™t shown up when he did, she might have been forced to sign that agreement.

Chandler shot her a cold look. โ€œDonโ€™t think Iโ€™m doing this for you.โ€

โ€œChandler,โ€ Lydia suddenly remembered the scent sheโ€™d noticed on Dalton earlier. โ€œDid you notice anything familiar about his cologne?โ€ If Dalton had rekindled feelings for Meryl, Chandler wouldnโ€™t take that lightly. Lydia felt the tension in her relationship with Dalton was all Merylโ€™s fault.

A glint of excitement appeared in Lydiaโ€™s eyes. If Chandler turned against Meryl, her situation would likely worsen.

Chandler raised an eyebrow and let her continue.

โ€œThe scent on Dalton is just like the perfume Meryl always wears. Do you think she might be sneaking around behind your back? Maybe rekindling an old romance?โ€
