Chapter 438 Did He Cook for You?
From the beginning, Meryl had planned to find herself a backer. Now, she was pretty sure that she had fallen in love with Chandler. The charm of his maturity was irresistible to her. She liked him to hold her, hug her, and make love with her. He was everything she desired in a husband.
She asked, โDonโt you have to go to work today?โ
โIโll accompany you at home.โ Chandler gently caressed Merylโs lower abdomen. โYour stomach is bulging day by day. What about your work?โ
The work pressure at Galaxy Holdings Group was tremendous. As an assistant to the presidentโs office, Meryl had to deal with complicated and trivial matters every day, which was very exhausting.
Chandler didnโt want her to suffer during her pregnancy.
She grasped his intention and whispered, โBut Iโm still in my first trimester. Is it boring to stay at home?โ
He said, โDo something you enjoy. I can support you. Take a class for a hobby or have fun everywhere.โ
The news of her pregnancy would only make them more attentive to her. Sheโd better not go to work for the time being.
โAre you hungry? Iโll make you something to eat.โ Chandler was in high spirits. He was not in the least fatigued despite the great deal of energy he had just used. He put on his pajamas and sat up in bed. โIโve heard that pregnant women get morning sickness. Is there anything you donโt want to eat? I will avoid it.โ
Meryl shook her head. โI donโt have morning sickness anymore.โ
Chandler was taken aback. In other words, Merylโs morning sickness was long over. So, it was the period when she had been locked up by Dalton.
Chandler felt guilty. He squatted in front of Meryl and grabbed her hand. โIโm sorry that I didnโt protect you.โ
Chandler had mixed feelings about not being by Merylโs side when she needed him most.
She shook her head. โChandler, itโs not your fault.โ
Chandler asked again, โWhat do you want to eat? I will make it for you now. That must have been a very difficult time for you.โ
Meryl didnโt want him to be overwhelmed by guilt. She said, โActually, itโs not difficult. Dalton cooked different dishes for me.โ
His face instantly darkened. โDid he cook for you?โ
As Daltonโs uncle, Chandler was well aware that Dalton had never done the chores, much less cooked for women, and that he had barely even entered the kitchen. However, he prepared meals for Meryl.
Sensing Chandlerโs displeasure, Meryl knew that he was jealous again. She held his face and explained gently, โI only ate what he cooked to survive.โ
Chandlerโs voice was slightly icy. โI was still too kind to him. He dared to be attentive to you!โ After a pause, he continued, โBesides cooking for you, has he done anything rude to you?โ
He had been avoiding this question. He believed Meryl and was unwilling to put pressure on her or remind her of bad memories. However, she and Dalton really lived alone in the same house for a long time.
In his annoyance, Chandler dared not dwell on some details. To put it bluntly, he was not as tolerant as he thought.
