Chapter 442 What Should I Do?
Meryl sat on the sofa to wait for him.
A few minutes later, the door clicked open. Meryl rushed over without even putting on her slippers.
Chandler walked in, his expression tense. He changed his shoes and frowned when he saw Meryl barefoot on the floor.
โI made dinner for you!โ she said with a smile. โChandler, where did you go? Why did you smash your phone?โ
Even if it was related to her, Meryl couldnโt quite understand why. She looked up at him with bright, hopeful eyes, trying to appease him.
She wore a white nightgown that seemed too large for her. She had put on some weight in recent months but had lost it again after Daltonโs actions.
Chandler swallowed hard and picked her up, pushing aside his negative emotions. He asked gently, โWhy didnโt you wear slippers, Meryl? Itโs still winter, and itโs freezing.โ
Three hours earlier, Chandler had planned to cook for Meryl but left abruptly in frustration.
Meryl had been anxious, her mind racing with worries. She was so eager to see Chandler that she forgot about the slippers.
His arms were warm as he carried her into the living room. Looking into his eyes, Meryl asked softly, โWhere did you go? Why did you leave without saying anything? Iโve been worried sick.โ
โI had some urgent matters to handle.โ
Chandler didnโt mention the photos he had received. Noticing his reluctance to discuss it, Meryl didnโt press the issue.
โI made dinner. Are you hungry?โ she asked, leading him to the dining table. โDo you like it?โ
It was already past four in the afternoon, well beyond lunchtime. Meryl was hungry but wanted to eat with Chandler.
Chapter 443 Iโm Telling the Truth
Chandler smiled brightly and knew at a glance that Meryl had made the three dishes and the soup on the table according to his preferences.
She pivoted around, ready to get the cutlery.
Yet, Chandler grabbed her hand and motioned for her to sit down. โHave a rest, and Iโll prepare it.โ
With that, he went straight into the kitchen and quickly came out with the cutlery.
โDonโt cook anymore.โ
Meryl was puzzled. โWhy?โ
โYou are pregnant, and I canโt let you cook for me.โ
Chandler felt guilty. If he hadnโt gone out in annoyance, Meryl wouldnโt have been starving until now.
What the hell was he doing?
On his way back, Chandler was distracted. At a certain moment, he actually suspected that what Dalton had said was true.
Daltonโs firm tone led him to assume that the child in Merylโs belly was really Daltonโs.
However, as she cooked for him despite her pregnancy...
