Chapter 453 Itโs Over for Her
Malcolm drove Lydia to the hospital.
As soon as they left, Bianca gave Meryl a thorough once-over. โHow are you? Are you hurt?โ
Meryl shook her head slightly. โI donโt feel anything.โ
โThatโs good to hear. Iโve heard that Lydia has been in and out of the hospital all the time to protect her pregnancy. Based on natural selection, a weak embryo like that might not be fit to survive anyway,โ Bianca said bluntly.
Still, she wasnโt entirely at ease. She suggested, โYou should get yourself checked at the hospital too, just in case. And, by the way, shouldnโt you let Chandler know?โ
Meryl glanced at the car in front of her. It had a dent, and some of the paint was scratched off.
The car belonged to Chandler, and she figured it was best to inform him about what happened.
Chandler was in a company meeting when he received Merylโs call.
During important meetings, his phone was always on silent, except when Meryl called; it would ring through.
Hearing that Meryl had been in a car accident, Chandlerโs voice immediately filled with concern. โAre you hurt?โ
โYour carโs paint got scratched. This car must be pretty expensive, right?โ
Meryl had taken the most elegant-looking car from the garage that day.
Chandler replied casually, โItโs nothing, just a few million dollars.โ
Meryl was at a loss for words.
โAs long as youโre okay, thatโs what matters. Iโm heading over to you right now. Oh, and make sure you call the police to determine responsibility,โ he said.
Meryl nodded and hung up the phone, only to find Bianca looking at her with a knowing smile.
โWhat?โ Meryl asked, feeling a bit puzzled. She thought, โIsnโt Bianca supposed to be worried after a car accident? Why is she smiling like that?โ
โIโm just happy to see how much Chandler cares about you and how heโs willing to drop everything to come to your side,โ Bianca said. โYou can tell if a man truly loves you by the way he acts. Chandler is much more reliable than Dalton! Youโre luckier than Lydia. This could be a blessing in disguise!โ
The police and Chandler arrived almost at the same time.
After reviewing the scene and the car conditions, the police determined that both cars shared equal responsibility for the accident.
โI thought you said you werenโt hurt?โ
Chandler asked, his brow furrowed, his gaze fixed on Merylโs face.
It seemed that when she slammed on the brakes, something from the front console had jumped up and scratched her cheek, leaving a thin line of blood.
She bit her lip and instinctively touched her cheek.
It was indeed bleeding.
The cut was in a spot she couldnโt see without a mirror, so she hadnโt realized she was injured.
โItโs just a small scratch, nothing serious,โ Meryl tried to downplay it.
โNothing serious?โ
Chandler insisted on taking Meryl to the hospital to get the wound treated.
Bianca, standing off to the side, tried to hold back her laughter.
She thought, โYes, better go and get it checked out. If she waits any longer, the wound might heal on its own.โ
On the way to the hospital, when Chandler learned that Lydia had deliberately cut in front of Merylโs car, his expression turned icy.
โWhat was she trying to do?โ he asked, his voice sharp.
Meryl shook her head lightly. โShe probably just got into a heated argument with me and lost her temper, thatโs all.โ
Meanwhile, Morton and Charlotte rushed to the hospital upon hearing that Lydia had been in a car accident.
However, due to the distance from the Aniston Villa, Lydia had already completed her medical examination by the time they arrived.
โHow is it? Is the baby alright?โ they asked anxiously.
Lydia felt a storm of emotions churning inside her.
As expected, everyone only cared about the baby. No one asked if she was in pain. They only wanted to know if the baby was okay.
Malcolm, standing nearby, answered, โThe doctor said the babyโs heart might stop beating at any moment.โ
Lydia realized she was done for.
