Chapter 462 Test
Lydia bit her lip. โI know I messed up. You have every right to be upset with me. I deserve it. But I truly care about you, Dalton. Everything Iโve done is because I love you. Even if everyone else abandons you, Iโll still be here.โ
Dalton looked down and lit a cigarette.
โYou just had lung surgeryโฆโ Lydia tried to take the cigarette from him. โDalton, canโt you wait until youโre out of the hospital to smoke?โ
Lydia and Meryl were half-sisters and shared a resemblance, which left Dalton momentarily distracted.
A nurse came by to remind Lydia to rest after her miscarriage, but she shook her head. โMy husband is ill. I need to take care of him,โ she insisted, heading to the kitchen. โDalton, you just woke up from surgery and can only have something light. How about I make you some porridge?โ
The VIP ward had a small kitchen, fully equipped. Dalton didnโt refuse; he simply accepted her care without comment.
Lydia did everything she could to please him, hoping he wouldnโt divorce her.

โIโve got good news and even better news. Which do you want first?โ Billy asked, trying to sound mysterious.
Dalton exhaled smoke slowly and replied coldly, โNot interested.โ
โAh, thereโs the prince of Kingsdom I know. Look at you, all charming and tough! You could have any woman you want,โ Billy said, trying to flatter him.

โLet me explain,โ Billy said, pulling his chair closer. โChandlerโs been ruling Kingsdom, but that wildcard is a loose cannon. After years of laying low, heโs back and likely to shake things up, which could hurt your uncleโs interests.โ
Dalton considered this thoughtfully. Just then, Lydia entered with some fresh fruit.
Billy had finished his piece and stood to leave. Lydia escorted him to the door, then washed an apple, cut it into pieces, and fed them to Dalton. He took a bite and found it surprisingly sweet.
โDalton, if your check-up goes well, the doctor says you can be discharged tomorrow and continue recovering at home,โ she
โI see,โ Dalton replied softly. โThanks for taking care of me these past few days.โ
Lydia was taken aback and pleased. โNo need to thank me. Itโs my duty as your wife."
Dalton suddenly asked, โMeryl and I spent a lot of time alone at the manor. Arenโt you curious about what we were doing?โ
Lydia was caught off guard, unsure of his intentions. She thought, โIs he testing me?โ
