Chapter 487 Redefining Priorities

Meryl married Chandler initially for a place to settle down. Chandler’s reliability and thoughtfulness gave her a sense of security, making her feel fortunate! In this vast world, there was also a light on for her. She wanted to live a good life with Chandler, and she successfully became pregnant with their child. Meryl lowered her eyes.

Perhaps she shouldn’t place all her emotional reliance on her partner. Chandler could be a part of her life, but not all of it. Otherwise, if something happened to him one day, she would be hurt terribly. She needed to have a career and improve herself. As for love… even without love, she could live a wonderful life.

Meryl took a deep breath and turned to leave the terrace. Suddenly, someone approached and respectfully said to her, “Ms. Stone, it’s getting chilly at night. You can use this.”

He was dressed in a black suit and looked like a bodyguard from the event organizer. Noticing the doubt in Meryl’s eyes, the bodyguard explained, “Everyone has one. You don’t have to feel any psychological burden.”

Meryl then accepted the coat and thanked him. She didn’t expect the event planner of the Powell family’s party to be so attentive, noticing that female guests wearing light clothing might feel cold at night.

The bodyguard handed Meryl a gift box. “This is for you. Please accept it.”

Meryl was taken aback, looking at the beautifully wrapped gift box. She subconsciously asked, “Is this the party favor?”

The bodyguard was stunned and then nodded. Meryl couldn’t help but marvel at the wealth of the Powell family, being so generous. Just from the packaging, she could tell the contents were…

“Thank you.”

Meryl accepted it. After the bodyguard walked away, she curiously opened the box to check. Inside was a complete set of slender and exquisite needles, with gold and silver needles, covering almost all the tools needed for medical acupuncture! Meryl’s eyes lit up. This was just too much to her liking.

However, something seemed strange… This thing was too targeted. Most people wouldn’t use it at all. Was it reasonable for the organizer to give this as a party favor?

Meryl subconsciously looked around, only then noticing that other people’s hands were empty. They didn’t receive any so-called gifts. She suddenly realized something.

Meryl walked a few steps quickly and caught up with the just-departed bodyguard. “Wait a minute. Who exactly is the person who gave me this gift?”

This person knew she understood medical skills and was good at medical acupuncture.

The bodyguard hesitated for a few seconds and whispered, “It’s Mr. Felix Powell.”

Meryl blinked innocently. Felix from the Powell family, the one who had a birthday today? She didn’t think she knew him.
