Chapter 489 The Twisted Gift
The bodyguard was holding a bracelet. โMs. Morgan, this is a gift from Mr. Powell.โ
Rachel turned her head to look. It was the bracelet from the auction just now.
โMr. Powell said, thank you for the diving performance. He insists that you wear this bracelet every day, so as not to waste his intentions.โ
With that, the bodyguard placed the bracelet around Rachelโs wrist.
Rachel slowly realized what was happening.
She thought, โA bracelet? From Felix? What on earth is he trying to do?โ
He had just about scared her to death with a few snakes and forced her to jump from the tenth floor for survival.
Now, he was sending her such an expensive bracelet.
Was this a mix of threats and favors?
Rachel bit her lip tightly.
Felix was not the type to give gifts to girls.
Had he known at the auction that she was competing for this... He was too twisted!
Felix was angry that she wanted to cancel the engagement. He scared her with snakes because she danced with other men.
Now, seeing her in such a miserable state, Felix felt sorry for her and gave her a braceletโฆ
Did he really want to marry her that badly?
Rachel closed her eyes. She would never marry Felix unless she was out of her mind.
She had to find a way to cancel the engagement!
Chandler arrived late after hearing the news.
Seeing him, Rachel felt aggrieved, and tears streamed down her face.
Chandler asked with some concern, โWhat happened?โ
Without saying a word, Rachel threw herself into Chandlerโs arms and cried loudly.
Chandlerโs back stiffened. Seeing her completely soaked and with some malicious gazes scanning her up and down, he immediately took off his coat and covered Rachelโs body.
โDonโt cry. Iโll take you to the hospital.โ
He reached out to help her, but Rachelโs feet weakened, her face showing a pained expression.
Chandler looked down and instantly understood. โFractured?โ
Rachel nodded, still with blood continuously oozing from her mouth.
Chandler didnโt expect her to be so severely injured.
His breath hitched, and he bent down to pick Rachel up, quickly heading towards the stairs.
Meryl was hailing a taxi outside the hotel. Sensing a crowd coming out from behind, she subconsciously turned her head.
Chandlerโs forehead was dotted with fine sweat. He seemed to be holding someone, his expression urgent as he got into the car.
The person in his arms was covered with a coat, but Meryl still recognized that it was a woman.
The womanโs wrist was adorned with an emerald bracelet, emitting a soft glow under the bright lights.
Meryl felt her eyes pricked by the sight.
She recognized this as the bracelet Chandler had bought at a high price tonight.
Anne had just guessed on the phone that Chandler had bought the bracelet for her. Meryl had still held onto a glimmer of hope.
If that were true, Chandler would indeed be a very romantic husband.
But when she saw the bracelet on another womanโs wrist, Meryl felt a mix of emotions.
It turned out Chandlerโs romance was meant for someone else.
It had nothing to do with her.
Chapter 490 The Bleeding Truth
On the way, Chandler lifted the coat to reveal Rachelโs face. Her nose and mouth were bleeding profusely, the blood soaking through even the tissues she held to her face.
His white shirt was stained red with blood.
His expression turned grave, and he commanded, โWalter, step on it.โ
โRight away!โ
Walter floored the gas pedal, blowing through several red lights in a row.
Chandler glanced at the time. It was already past eleven at night.
Meryl had left the auction site without saying goodbye. He wondered if she had made it home safely.
Chandler took out his phone, intending to call Meryl to check in.
Rachelโs condition was critical. He would likely be stuck at the hospital for most of the night and wouldnโt be able to return home early.
To his surprise, Merylโs phone was turned off.
Chandler thought, โMaybe itโs too late, and sheโs already resting.โ
One of the servants at the villa answered the call.
โHas Meryl returned yet?โ
โNo, Mr. Aniston. The light in your room hasnโt come on.โ
Chandler speculated, โMaybe she went back to our house?โ
He called the servant at their home and received the same answer.
Meryl had not returned home.
Where could she be at this hour?
Chandler felt an unexplained sense of unease. Although Kingsdom was likely to be relatively safe at night, he was still worried about her.
โWalter, when we get to the hospital, you stay with Rachel for the tests! Let me know immediately if thereโs any news!โ
Walter nodded. โNo problem, Mr. Aniston!โ
Rachel was taken aback and said with a pained expression, โChandler, wonโt you stay with me?โ
โWell, itโs late. I have to go home or Meryl might worry.โ
This statement made Rachel choke back her words. She wanted to say something more, but by then, the car had already arrived at the hospital.
A stretcher from the emergency center was rolled up to the car.
