Christine had thought Meryl was just lucky to become Harvey’s student. But now, knowing Meryl’s connection to Galaxy Holdings Group, the truth was much harder to digest.

“If Meryl is truly the wife of the company’s CEO, why hadn’t she told anyone?” she wondered.

Christine pointed a trembling finger at her. “You… you’re married?”

Meryl’s cold gaze swept over Christine. “Didn’t you just accuse me of being someone’s mistress and using connections to get in? Don’t back down now. Why are you shaking?”

With that, Meryl raised her hand and patted Christine on the shoulder.

“Next time you want to slander someone, at least get your facts straight. Oh, and before you gossip about others, take a good look at yourself in the mirror. Didn’t you notice your recently fixed nose is crooked?”

Christine’s face fell. Her hand instinctively shot up to touch her nose.

Someone in the crowd muttered, “So her nose is fake? I thought it looked a bit odd.”

Another chimed in, “We’re all part of the same orchestra. Isn’t it embarrassing for Christine to spread rumors like this? Meryl is Galaxy Holdings Group’s CEO’s wife, and she accuses her of being a mistress?”

Christine’s face flushed. She wanted nothing more than to disappear.

Worst of all, she could feel everyone staring at her nose.

“Alright, everyone, break it up! Don’t you all have practice to get to? What if the deputy conductor catches you loitering?”

The reminder worked, and the crowd gradually dispersed.

Christine wasn’t just anyone; her father was the orchestra’s deputy conductor. Though they loved gossip, most knew better than to push things too far.

When the hallway finally cleared, only Christine, Tina, and Norma remained.

Thinking about the humiliation Meryl had just subjected her to, Christine was extremely angry, her hands trembling uncontrollably.

She’d never been humiliated like this before, and her pride and reputation were crushed in one blow.

Norma tried to console her. “Christine, don’t let her get to you. She’s new here. You’re the principal cellist. No matter what, she can’t outshine you.”

Tina nodded in agreement. “Exactly. With her skill level, she doesn’t even qualify as an ordinary ensemble member yet.”

Christine’s expression softened slightly under their reassurances.

In her mind, Meryl’s position as Harvey’s student could only be attributed to sheer luck.

Christine had looked into Meryl’s background before. She hadn’t attended any prestigious music academies, nor had she undergone formal training.

Why else would Harvey take her on as a student? It’s all because of Chandler’s influence.

There’s no way it’s because she’s actually talented.”

Christine sneered as she formulated her plan.

“Spread the word,” she instructed Tina and Norma: “Tell everyone Meryl only became Mr. Herty’s student because she used her position as Chandler’s wife to pressure him. She’s nothing but a connection user.”

Harvey was a cornerstone of the orchestra. If this rumor spread, many would rally against the idea of him being coerced into taking a student.

Orchestra members prided themselves on their skill and integrity. If they believed Meryl had entered through such means, she’d be drowned in a sea of disdain.

Tina and Norma exchanged uneasy glances. “Christine… isn’t that going a bit too far? Didn’t Mr. Herty himself say he begged Meryl to be his student?” Norma hesitated.
