Secret Admiration: Finding True Love After...
Chapter 576 She Was Blocked
It took Meryl quite a while to calm Anne down.
โI wonโt go to him,โ Anne said, her voice resolute. โLetโs see how long he can hold out!โ
Meryl nodded in agreement. โFocus on your recovery. Heal your legs and rest well. Chandler just told me he heard Bella crying energetically, so sheโs likely healthy. Thereโs no need to worry.โ
For now, whoever made the first move would be at a disadvantage. Dante had taken the baby solely to pressure Anne into yielding.
Meryl left Yancey with instructions to take good care of Anne before heading back to her orchestra.
However, just as she reached the entrance, she was stopped by Philip.
Philipโs eyes were red, and his voice trembled as he pleaded. โMs. Stone, please! You must save Mr. Powell! Heโs on the verge of death!โ
Meryl froze in shock. โFelix? Whatโs happened to him now?โ she wondered.
Chapter 576 She Was Blocked
She couldnโt help but recall that fateful night when Felix had orchestrated events to ruin her relationship with Chandler, using Rachel as a pawn. The memory of their heated argument outside the hotel was still vivid.
That night, Felix had gone so far as to pull out a dagger and demand she stab him.
Meryl really couldnโt imagine what had happened to Felix to make Philip, a grown man, cry like that.
Acting on impulse, or perhaps a sense of responsibility, she followed Philip through a back entrance into Powell.
They moved quietly, careful not to alert anyone in the household.
But the moment Meryl stepped into the room, she was stunned.
The air was thick with the metallic scent of blood. Felix lay on the bed, his eyes tightly shut.
His lips were cracked and dry, and though he was wrapped in a thick blanket, his body trembled uncontrollably. He looked even worse than when heโd been shot in the shoulder.
Meryl frowned deeply. โWhy isnโt he in a hospital?โ
Philip shook his head. โMr. Powell forbade me from taking him there!โ

โWhat grudge does this stubborn man hold against hospitals?โ she wondered.
The room was already stocked with medical supplies. Meryl approached the bed and lifted the blanket.
The underside of the blanket was soaked in blood.
Gently pulling back Felixโs clothing, her eyes widened in shock.
The wound was on his abdomen. It was a sharp, clean cut about two centimeters deep and the length of a finger.
Judging by the dark, crusted blood mixed with fresh bleeding, the injury was at least a night old.
The blood had seeped through the sheets in layers, staining them so thoroughly that their original color was indiscernible.
Meryl immediately set to work, attempting to stop the bleeding. But the wound was too large; she could only manage to slow it down.
Felix looked as if he had a high fever and was unconscious. If not treated carefully, it could lead to an infection!
โWhy does he always end up in such a pitiful state?โ she thought bitterly.
After a thorough examination, Meryl determined the wound was superficial and hadnโt damaged any internal organs.

If it was only a surface injury, she felt she could attempt to stitch him up herself.
โDo you have a needle?โ
โYes! Yes, of course!โ Philip rummaged through the medical kit and handed her a needle and thread. โMs. Stone, are you going to stitch Mr. Powell yourself?โ
Meryl sighed. โHe really should be taken to a hospital, but your master clearly wonโt allow that. If I do it here, heโll end up with an ugly scar on his abdomen.โ
Philip hesitated. Felix was notoriously vain and obsessively clean. A scar might be unbearable for him.
Felix coughed weakly, startling them both, and suddenly opened his eyes.
