Chapter 579 So You Were Faking It?
Felix chuckled lightly. โMy legs are useless, Christopher. Youโve known that for a while, havenโt you?โ
Christopherโs gaze swept over Felixโs legs before narrowing in suspicion. โAre they truly damaged, or are you faking it to get out of helping the Powell family?โ
Upon hearing this, Keithโs expression darkened. โFelix, so this whole time, your so-called disability was just an act?โ
Felix remained silent.
Philipโs face turned red with anger. โMr. Powellโs condition is true! The hospital has certified it!โ
Christopher sneered. โAnd hospital reports canโt be falsified? Wasnโt it through forgery and deception that the Powell family rose to prominence in the first place? Besides, since when does a servant like you get to interrupt our conversation?โ
Keithโs expression grew colder. โFelix, the Powell family has taken care of you all these years, and this is how you repay us? Look at your brothers. Theyโve sacrificed so much for the family. And you? You do nothing but reap the benefits. Now you even pretend to be crippled! Get up now!โ
As Keith reached out to grab him, Felix suddenly hurled the glass in front of him onto the floor.
The sharp sound of shattering glass echoed in the room, scattering fragments everywhere.
Felix smiled faintly, but it was a cold, bone-chilling smile. โDemanding a cripple to stand, donโt you think thatโs a bit much?โ
Though his voice was calm, it carried a weight that pressed down on everyone in the room. โHave you said enough?โ His gaze swept across the two men. โIf so, get out.โ
The room fell into a tense silence. Both of them were momentarily stunned by Felixโs commanding demeanor.
Several seconds passed before Christopher found his voice again.
โFelix, how can you speak to Father like that? Sure, you did well with the Walker family, but that doesnโt mean you can act so high and mighty. I can take your arrogance, but how dare you tell Father to leave? Do you have no respect for our father?โ
Felixโs eyes were as frosty as ice. His voice, sharp as a blade, cut through the tension in the air.
โIโll say it one more time. Leave.โ
The last word came out in a shout, reverberating through the room like a thunderclap. Even the beams seemed to tremble under its force.
Keith glared at Felix, clearly on the verge of an outburst, but he restrained himself. Letting out a heavy scoff, he turned and left.
The room was eerily silent. Christopher took two steps closer to Felix.
His smile was unsettling. โFelix, believe it or not, I swear I wasnโt the one who pulled the trigger that night. Youโre my brother. How could I ever harm you?โ
Felix met his gaze head-on. โChristopher, donโt worry. If it wasnโt you, I wonโt falsely accuse you. But if it wasโฆโ
His eyes narrowed. โIโll make you pay dearly.โ
The intensity of Felixโs glare forced Christopher to avert his eyes. Without another word, he turned and walked out.
As soon as the door closed, Philip hurried to lock it.
Philip, still fuming, voiced his frustration.
โMr. Keith Powell is so unreasonable! After you sneaking into the Walker Villa last night and almost losing your life, he acts like this? That wound on your abdomen is proof of how much youโve sacrificed, yet he just lets Mr. Christopher Powell mock you like that? Theyโre all in on it together! Itโs so unfair!โ
Felix remained calm. Compared to Philipโs indignation, he seemed utterly detached, as though none of it concerned him.
The bathroom door creaked open, and Meryl stepped out.
Philip suddenly remembered her presence and immediately fell silent. With an embarrassed nod, he exited the room to stand guard outside.
The room fell into a prolonged silence, broken only by Merylโs gaze lingering on Felixโs face.
