Chapter 589 A Secret Rendezvous

Rachel’s words struck Chandler like a bolt of lightning.

“They are hiding from everyone, meeting in a deserted music hall where their phones are conveniently unreachable. Chandler, you’ve been betrayed!”

Rachel’s loud voice, echoing in the stillness of the night, seemed designed to ensure no one could miss her dramatic declaration.

Chandler’s expression darkened significantly.

Felix, however, seemed delighted with the unfolding drama. A faint smile tugged at his lips. He didn’t look angry at being “caught”; in fact, he seemed rather pleased. Especially when he saw Chandler’s grim expression, Felix’s male pride practically radiated from him.

Felix smirked. “You two are such intruding third wheels. Terrible timing.”

Chandler’s face grew even stormier. His glare at Felix was sharp as a blade as he extended a hand toward Meryl. “Meryl, come here.”

Meryl stepped out of Felix’s arms. She had expected Chandler to explode with rage at the scene. After all, any man would care about his pride.

But to her surprise, he held his temper, swallowing his fury and refraining from lashing out at her in public. Meryl shut her eyes briefly, determined to carry through with the charade. Yet, seeing Chandler restrain himself so resolutely, she felt a pang of guilt and hesitated.

She took a step toward Chandler, but before she could move further, Felix grabbed her wrist.

Felix said, “Why should you leave just because he says so? Can’t you see we’re on a date?” He gently rested his hand on her shoulder and gave her a look full of mock tenderness. His gaze on her seemed to escalate the tension deliberately. “Let the baby take my family name,” he added casually, “I’d love to be your child’s father.”

The words were like a bomb detonating in the air. Chandler’s face turned thunderous. Without hesitation, he stormed forward and threw a punch at Felix’s face.

Felix dodged swiftly, turning his head at the last second. But to everyone’s surprise, that first punch was a feint. Chandler followed up with a real strike from his other hand, landing squarely on Felix’s jaw.

Blood immediately welled up at the corner of Felix’s mouth. Felix, who had never been treated like this before, looked visibly enraged. His eyes narrowed, and a cold gleam flashed as he touched his bruised cheek with his tongue. He clenched his fists, ready to retaliate.

“You think you’re someone special?”

Meryl was caught off guard by how quickly things escalated. As she watched the two men about to tear into each other, she stepped forward hastily. “Stop it! Both of you!”

Her sudden intervention made them pause, worried about hurting her accidentally.

Meryl wasted no time walking out of the room.
