Secret Admiration: Finding True Love Afterโ€ฆ

Chapter 605 Political Marriage

In the dimly lit room, Meryl gently laid Chandler down on the bed.

โ€œIโ€™ll get you a glass of water,โ€ she said.

This was the first time she had found herself in such a situation, and she felt completely lost.

As she turned to leave, Chandler suddenly grabbed her wrist, pulling her back with unexpected force.

Meryl wasnโ€™t prepared for it and stumbled into his warm embrace.

His body was burning against hers, and in that instant, Merylโ€™s heart raced, pounding in her throat.

Her long, seaweed-like hair cascaded around them, brushing against Chandlerโ€™s face like a silent invitation.

Chandler yanked off his tie, the tension in his body reaching a breaking point. He couldnโ€™t hold back any longer.

He leaned in, his hands bracing on either side of her, and captured her lips in a fervent kiss.

It felt as if the parched earth was finally receiving the rain it desperately needed. Merylโ€™s coolness only intensified Chandlerโ€™s desire to draw her closer.

โ€œMerylโ€ฆโ€ he murmured, cradling her face in his hands, his reason slipping away.

Chandler nipped at her lower lip, as if he wanted to meld her into himself.

Meryl instinctively tried to pull away. โ€œChandler, we canโ€™tโ€ฆโ€

But her half-finished protest was silenced by his heated kiss.

Chandler was overwhelmed; his entire being felt like it was on fire, and he craved the woman in his arms with an urgency that consumed him.

His mind was foggy as he gripped Merylโ€™s slender waist, trailing kisses down to her collarbone.

Merylโ€™s heart raced uncontrollably. She struggled to regain his attention. โ€œChandler, Iโ€™m pregnant! Iโ€™m over five months along, this is too dangerous!โ€

It seemed he didnโ€™t hear her. His eyes were glazed over, and Chandler held her tightly beneath him.

But when his hands brushed against her slightly rounded belly, it was as if a light switched on. He jolted back, releasing her as if he had been burned.

Chandler pinched his thigh hard, trying to snap back to reality.

โ€œAre you okay, Meryl?โ€ he asked urgently, concern flooding his voice as he looked down at her.

Merylโ€™s eyes were red-rimmed, her pale skin flushed with distress.

She looked up at him and said, her voice trembling, โ€œIโ€™m fine, but you scared me to death! I thought you really wanted toโ€ฆโ€

โ€œIโ€™m so sorry,โ€ Chandler said, shaking his head, the heat of the moment evaporating in an instant.

He couldnโ€™t bear to stay in the same space with her any longer.

โ€œIโ€™ll be right back; I just need to use the bathroom.โ€

Moments later, the sound of running water mixed with a muffled groan echoed from the bathroom.

Rachel woke up the next afternoon, disoriented and confused.

Everything around her felt foreign. It seemed like she was in a hotel room, the sheets and blankets all white and pristine.

Rubbing her throbbing head, Rachel thought, โ€œWhat happened? Why am I here? I think I had some kind of drugged drink, and thenโ€ฆโ€

She quickly scanned the room. Her clothes from the night before lay shredded on the floor, and her underwear was nowhere to be found.

Rachelโ€™s heart sank as she threw back the covers.

The bed was a mess, and the chaotic state of things was a stark reminder of how wild the night had been.

Panic washed over Rachel as she pressed her hands to her temples.

She couldnโ€™t remember anything clearly.

Rachel had a low tolerance for alcohol, and with the added substances, it was no wonder her memory was hazy. She distinctly remembered Chandler being taken away by Meryl.

โ€œSoโ€ฆ who did I sleep with?โ€

โ€œI canโ€™t just go around sleeping with random guysโ€ฆโ€

Then, a flicker of memory surfacedโ€“she had kissed Felix.

โ€œWas it Felix?โ€

The sight of a dark red stain on the sheets sent her spiraling into despair.

On the nightstand, three boxes of condoms lay open, each one a silent testament to the chaos of the night before.

As Rachel clutched her head, torn between dialing the police and letting things be, a soft knock echoed through the room.

It turned out that it was a suite with a separate sitting room.

The man who entered sported gold-rimmed glasses and wore a sleek black shirt.

It was none other than Christopher!

Rachelโ€™s eyes widened with shock. โ€œYouโ€ฆ You did this to me?โ€

She mused, โ€œHow could this happen?โ€

โ€œChristopher! Heโ€™s Felixโ€™s brother!

โ€œKnowing full well Iโ€™m engaged to Felix, how could he do this?โ€

Rachelโ€™s phone was already filled with โ€œ911โ€œ, yet her finger hesitated to press the call button.

As her sanity gradually returned, Rachel understood that reporting this would ruin her reputation, and Felix, that madman, would surely kill her!

โ€œYouโ€™re Felixโ€™s brother, why would youโ€ฆ do this to me?โ€ Rachelโ€™s eyes reddened, tears streaming down her face.

Christopher approached Rachel step by step, sitting beside her and embracing her tightly.

His lips trailed from her ear to her neck, his hot breath seemingly melting her.

โ€œRachel, it was you who leaned into my arms last night.โ€

No man could resist a woman who came on her own. Christopher hugged Rachel, his eyes filled with desire, his body reacting again.

He gazed at Rachel intensely, saying, โ€œDo you know how your engagement with Felix came about?โ€

โ€œIt was me who suggested it to my father. At that time, the Morgan family was already declining, not matching the Powell family. So, my father chose Felix, the discarded son, as the allianceโ€™s object.โ€

โ€œBut in truth, I wanted to marry you. Itโ€™s because my father values me too much that he arranged a more suitable match with Ms. Clarke, which led you to be engaged to Felix. But my heart has always belonged to you.โ€

Christopherโ€™s hot breath landed on Rachelโ€™s collarbone, and he kissed it passionately.

โ€œRachel, my Rachelโ€ฆโ€

Rachel was utterly shocked.

โ€œWhat did this mean? Christopher has always liked me?โ€

โ€œWas last night just a natural course? Did I actively throw myself at him?โ€

Christopherโ€™s large hands began wandering on her body, and

Rachel pushed Christopher away, slapping him across the face.

Rachel glared at him, her emotions running high. โ€œStay away from me! You knew I was Felixโ€™s fiancรฉe, yet you stillโ€ฆโ€

Christopher spoke matter-of-factly. โ€œYou donโ€™t even like him.โ€

โ€œBut how could youโ€ฆ do this to me?โ€

โ€œIโ€™m sorry, you were so enticing, and you were the one who initiated. I just couldnโ€™t resist.โ€

Rachel covered her face and sobbed.

Christopher felt a pang of guilt, gently embracing her.

โ€œRachel, donโ€™t cry. Do you remember? When you were five, you came to my house with your dad, and your toy fell into the pond. I was the one who went into the water to retrieve it for you.โ€

โ€œBack then, you called my name so sweetly. It was the first time such a soft, adorable little girl called me so sweetly; it melted my heart.โ€

โ€œThen, when your family went through hard times, I was just seventeen. I couldnโ€™t bear to see you struggling, so I wanted my father to adopt you, but he refused.โ€

โ€œIt just so happened that your father entrusted you to us, leading to your engagement with a member of the Powell family. At first, my father didnโ€™t agree, but after much persuasion from me, he finally nodded.โ€

โ€œIf it werenโ€™t for Felix, you would have been mine from the start. Rachel, donโ€™t cry, Whatever you want in the future, Iโ€™ll give it to you.โ€

With that, Christopherโ€™s fingers gently lifted Rachelโ€™s chin, and he kissed her lips softly.

Rachel still held a shred of reason. โ€œWhat are you talking about? Youโ€™re engaged to Ms. Clarke, and if Iโ€™m not mistaken, your wedding is in a month!โ€

โ€œItโ€™s just a political marriage; I have no feelings for her. Rachel, all Iโ€™ve ever liked is you.โ€
